Logan Aldridge Wakeboarding Accident – What Happened To Him?
Logan Aldridge lost his left arm, his dominant arm, in a wakeboarding accident 18 years ago when the man was only 13 years old. Despite his injury, he has become one of the successful Crossfit athletes and even a peloton instructor inspiring everyone.
The accident that cost Logan his left arm occurred in Lake Gaston on June 26, 2004, when young Logan and his dad visited his dad’s friend’s dock. Aldridge said he was trying to get an untangled tow rope attached to the boat.
Unfortunately, the rope’s end got tangled on his left arm, which caused him to take the propeller of the boat straight to his dominant arm, severing it.
Despite the horrifying accident, which would have left anyone else discouraged with no hope, Logan got back up and, with the help of his friends and family, thrived his way to being an adaptive Crossfit athlete.
The adaptive Crossfit athlete’s stories have inspired many not to give up hope and always give their best in life no matter what hardships arise.
Injury Details Of The Crossfit Athlete
Logan Aldridge’s injury occurred on June 26, 2004, in Lake Gaston, North Carolina, when young Aldrige decided to take it upon himself to untangle the tow rope from the boat.
Much to Logan’s surprise, the rope was attached to the boat with the other end tangled on his dominant left arm. Suddenly, the rope was pulled along with his hand and drove through the propeller off the ship.
It was tragic and horrifying as his left arm was cut clean to the bone from the wings of the propeller. 13-year-old Logan screamed for help, and his dad, along with the others, came to help him as soon as they heard his scream.
They did their best to save the young boy’s arm, taking him to the nearest hospital at South Hill Community Memorial Hospital. His family transported Logan by helicopter to UNC Chapel Hill Medical Center.
The doctors could not save his arm, and it took Logan a whole year to adjust to losing his arm and using his other arm instead of his dominant arm.
After being inspired by another girl who lost her arm after a Tiger Shark attack by doing everything she could, he got back on with his life and started to work towards his dream despite the injury.
Now Logan has finally achieved his dream of introducing himself as a Crossfit athlete who is not behind anyone else unaffected by his number of hands.
