Who is Kerri Green?

Kerri Lee Green was born in 1967, in Fort Lee, New Jersey, USA, and is an accomplished American actress, writer, director and producer. She gained fame in the 1980s with memorable roles in iconic films such as “The Goonies” and “Lucas”, since when Kerri’s journey in the entertainment industry has been an inspiring one, as she’s managed to successfully navigate the challenges of Hollywood, while continuing to pursue her passion for storytelling.

Early life and education

Kerri grew up in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, and studied at Pascack Hills High School. Her passion for the performing arts became evident at an early age; she started taking part in various school plays and local theater productions when she was just six years old.

Recognizing her talent and drive, her parents encouraged her to pursue her dreams. In her teenage years, she studied acting at the esteemed Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre located in New York City, where she was taught by the highly respected acting coach, Sanford Meisner. During her time at the Neighborhood Playhouse, Kerri had the opportunity to learn from some of the most respected names in the industry, including fellow students such as Allison Janney and Dylan McDermott.

This elite institution provided her with the foundational skills that would shape her career and help her secure her first big acting break.

Acting career

Kerri made her cinematic debut in 1985 as the charming and resourceful Andy Carmichael in the cult classic comedy “The Goonies“, following a group of young misfits who embark on a treasure hunt to save their homes from foreclosure. Together, they follow a treasure map that leads them through a series of dangerous obstacles, including booby traps and underground caverns, in search of the long-lost treasure of the pirate One-Eyed Willy. The film was an instant hit, catapulting Kerri to fame. The movie’s success solidified her place in the industry as a promising young actress.

Also in 1985, Kerri appeared in another hit comedy, “Summer Rental”, which starred John Candy as a hard-working air-traffic controller, who encounters a series of mishaps during his family vacation.

In the following year, Kerri starred opposite Corey Haim and Charlie Sheen in the coming-of-age drama “Lucas”, written and directed by David Seltzer. The movie explores themes of teenage angst, friendship, and the challenges of adolescence. Corey Haim delivers a powerful performance as Lucas, capturing the character’s emotional depth and vulnerability. In the film, Kerri played the role of Maggie, a high school girl caught in a love triangle with Lucas, and was also praised for her performance.

In 1987, Kerri co-starred alongside Charlie Sheen again, in another comedy-drama “Three for the Road”, directed by Bill Norton. The film follows a political aide named Jack, who is assigned to transport a Senator’s daughter Robin and her friend T.S. across the country. Along the way, Jack and Robin develop a romantic relationship while T.S. grapples with his own personal issues. The movie featured strong performances from all three lead actors, and is considered a classic 1980s comedy. In the 1990s, Kerrie starred in TV movies “Tainted Blood” (1993) and “Blue Flame” (1993.

In addition to her film work, Kerri has also appeared in several television series. Her first foray into television was in 1987, with a guest role in the popular children’s series “The Magical World of Disney”.

In the following years, she appeared in the comedy, “ABC Afterschool Specials”, and the dramatic “In the Heat of the Night”. In 1992, she appeared alongside Hector Elizondo and Brian Dennehy in the Emmy-nominated crime drama mini-series “The Burden of Proof”, based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Scott Turow.

In the early 2000s, Kerri made appearances in popular series “ER” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”, before taking a step away from acting. Kerri made her comeback in 2012, with a starring role in the drama film “Complacent”, which was written and directed by Steven R. Monroe. Her comeback was very brief, however, as Kerri hasn’t appeared in any new movies or TV series since.

Behind the camera

Kerri’s passion for storytelling led her to explore roles beyond acting. In 1999, she co-founded the independent film production company Independent Women Artists (IWA) with actress Bonnie Dickenson. IWA’s mission is to produce and promote films that are written, directed, and produced by women.

In 2000, Kerri made her directing debut with the short film “Bellyfruit”, which she also co-wrote and produced. The film premiered at the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival and received positive reviews, reflecting her skills behind the camera.

Since then, Kerri has continued to work as a writer, director and producer on various projects, often collaborating with fellow female filmmakers. This includes her involvement in the production of the documentary “Proudly She Served” (2004), which focused on the experiences of female veterans. Her commitment to amplifying the voices of women in the industry is a testament to her dedication to creating opportunities and fostering a more inclusive entertainment landscape.

Where is she now?

Despite being in the public eye, Kerri has managed to keep her personal life relatively private. She’s been married to her husband, Michael M. Foley, since 1993 and they have two children together.

Shortly after quitting acting in 2001, Kerri enrolled at Vassar College to study Art, graduating Cum Laude in 2005. Since then, Kerri has also been involved in teaching acting classes and workshops, passing on her knowledge and experience to aspiring actors.

Kerri is passionate about environmental causes, and supports several organizations dedicated to protecting the planet, including the Natural Resources Defense Council and the Environmental Defense Fund.

In her spare time, Kerri loves to travel, and enjoys exploring different cultures and cuisines. Her love for travel has taken her to various countries across Europe, Asia and South America.

Net worth

Although Kerri’s net worth is not publicly disclosed, it’s estimated to be around $2 million as of May 2023. Her wealth primarily comes from her work as an actress, writer, director and producer in both film and television.
