John Madden had undergone open-heart surgery in 2015. He was also rumored to have cancer, but the news was never officially confirmed.
Due to falling age, the coach’s health was slowly deteriorating. He also faced some minor issues related to the hip, knee, and esophagus.
However, after continuous treatments, Madden was living on his feet. He was living a happy life in Pleasanton, California.
A documentary titled; AllMadden was released on December 21, 2021. It was premiered on FOX as a Christmas treat to Oakland Raiders’ fans.
