Obituary: What Happened To Reporter Jay Brandow From Michigan?
Obituary news of Reporter Jay Brandow from Michigan is circulating on the internet since April 13, 2022. His friends and former colleagues are reflecting on Brandow’s professional impact and personal bonds on Facebook.
Brandow began working at WNEM TV-5 in August 1984 and left in 2011. Eric Jylha stated that he auditioned for a job at the TV station in 1984, but Brandow was picked instead.
Jylha’s second effort to join WNEM TV-5 was successful a year later, and he remained a coworker and friend of Brandow for many years after that. Jylha said he resigned approximately a year after Brandow, after working at the station for more than a quarter-century.
“He was an old-school reporter who knew everyone and had a lot of sources,” Jylha explained. “Because they knew and trusted him, people would phone him with the news.”
Jylha stated that Brandow resonated with both the WNEM TV-5 audience and the subjects of his narrative.
According to Jylha, one of Brandow’s most memorable stories had the reporter receiving the call of a resident. She was unable to persuade emergency officials to assist her in removing a dead cat from her yard.
So she dialed the number of the TV journalist she most trusted: Brandow.
Jay, according to his buddy Lisa, had an unrivaled sense of humor. “He was one of those men you could always depend on for a fast remark. He was a fantastic reporter and an even greater friend who would always go out of his way for you.”
Bret Wolverton, on the other hand, recognized him as a mentor and praised Jay for everything he’s done to assist him in his profession since then.
He wrote, “It was helpful to have a mentor who had been there and done who I could go to and rant to when things became hectic. It’s valued far more than he’ll ever realize.”
Brandow’s coworkers at WNEM TV-5 referred to him as “Cactus Jack,” a moniker he earned when working as a radio DJ in Southfield.
Jay had the perfect broadcast voice and could manage a live shoot like no one else, which was reported by every one of his colleagues. He will be sorely missed.
