Hope Brewster was 22 years old pregnant woman who died in 1993 with her two-year-old son and an unborn baby. Her apartment in Noble Manor, Noblesville, suddenly caught fire on February 26.
In 2021, Oxygen’s unscripted true-crime documentary series, ‘Cold Justice,’ investigated the cold case of Hope Brewster’s death with the help of modern technology in arson investigation.
The investigators suspect that Greg could have murdered his wife and children or that the reality behind the case may be different from what they see.
Who Was Hope Brewster?
Hope Brewster, a pregnant woman, and her 2-year-old son, Jacob, died in a fire on one of the nights in 1993. Everyone in the room was sound asleep when her husband realized that smoke was coming outside their apartment door.
To escape the fire, her husband jumped out of the window. He landed on the ground but injured his back in the process. When he looked out the window, his wife and child were not there, and he was already taken to an ambulance.
Someone incorrectly told him that his family was safe. Eyewitnesses reported that both adults and little children shouted their way out of the situation, but Hope was unable to bring her child.
She was 22 years old when she passed away. Her son was two years old, and she had an unborn in her abdomen when she was caught in a fire at Noble Apartments.
Death Cause Of Hope Brewster In Her Obituary Notice
The death cause of Hope Brewster is said to be carbon monoxide intoxication and smoke inhalation caused by arson. However, the investigators think that the fire was set by someone intentionally.
There were many red flags for the investigators who found out that Hope and her husband, Greg had a rocky marriage, and the latter was having an affair too. Moreover, his remarrying after a year of his child and wife’s death was also suspicious to the detectives.
The fire investigators also said that the door to their apartment was open, which caused the fire and smoke to enter their apartment. However, Greg said that he never opened the door and directly went to the window to save himself first and then planned to catch his family.
In contrast, there is a possibility that Hope could have opened the door herself to see if it was hot or not and if she could save herself. And officers have confirmed the theory through the location of bodies and the reason for the door opening.
Hope Brewster Family Details To Follow
Hope Brewster had a son and was expecting another child with her husband Greg when she tragically died in arson in 1993. Greg lost his family in the fire even though he had planned how to save them.
There were few suspects in the case, but investigations only led to a dead-end, and all the suspects were clear from suspicion. However, authorities have not been able to rule out the possibility that it could have been an intentional fire set up in the house.
Even after reopening the case in 2019, there have not been any leads, but the investigators hope their interest in the case will bring new evidence.
