The murder of Gomora actor Siyabonga Zubane has exposed the limitations of the entertainment business as well as the global issue of mental health. The 23-year-old actor is the most recent star to commit suicide.
Zubane, who portrayed Sdumo in Mzansi Magic’s famous Gomora series, died last Saturday at his Soweto home, sending shockwaves all across the country. On Thursday, close family members and friends of late Gomora actor Siyabonga Zubane assembled at the Joburg Theatre to honor his life.
Thobile Zubane, the late actor’s mother, said she was still waiting for answers about her son, who she described as a simple family-oriented young man.
“I’m not doing well at all. He was my second child out of three sons and one girl. “Siabonga was a family-oriented, kind, and supportive individual, and we will remember him forever,” his mother added.
