Frank Somerville was suspended for the second time this year and Oakland NAACP has called KTVU for the reinstatement.
The veteran journalist of KTVU Frank Somerville is being suspended for the second time and NAACP is vocal in supporting him.
Somerville reportedly became a victim of suspension after disagreement with the news director Amber Eikel over the news coverage of Petito homicide case.
Now, after being suspended indefinitely by the KTVU following the news coverage, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) has come in support of the news anchor.
They have asked KTVU for the immediate reinstatement of the journalist Frank Somerville.
What Happened to Frank Somerville?
Frank Somerville was suspended by his employee KTVU after the disagreement with the Channel 2’s news director Amber Eikel.
Served in the KTVU for 3 decades, this was the second suspension for him this year.
During the news coverage of Gabby Petito homicide case, Somerville found himself having an argument with the management of Channel 2 over a tagline that he wanted to use in the murder case.
It was revealed that he wanted management to point out the difference between the attention given to the missing white woman and a missing woman of color.
Somerville is a father of an adopted teenage black girl.
Frank Somerville Fired Or Suspended: His Current Situation
Frank Somerville is suspended indefinitely by the KUTV after being declined to call the tagline he wanted to use during the homicide case of Gabby Petito.
Further, he wanted to use the platform to add up about the racial inequality. He wanted to call attention about the discrepancy in media coverage of white victims and a victim of color.
Somerville’s proposal was declined by the news director Eikel as they have cleared the incident stating it was not an appropriate time to add a tagline.
The tagline would have taken less than a minute. He was informed being suspended next day.
Furthermore, the news of his suspension came as a surprise as he was taken off the air for eight weeks in May following a bizarre on-air behavior.
The actual details behind what led Frank to be suspended and what happened off-is yet to be known.
Is Frank Somerville Being Reinstated?

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) has scheduled a media conference on Saturday to support Somerville.
Further, the president of NAACP George Holland Sr. has sent a letter to the vice-president and general manager of Fox News citing that KTVU should be honoring him instead.
The 63-years-old Somerville is a 3-time Emmy award winner.
