Donna Summers From McDonalds lives under the radar after the Strip-Search incident in Kentucky. Donna Summers fiance Nix was apprehended for his misconduct.
In the Netflix documentary Don’t Pick Up The Phone, the audience is taken through hoax calls made between 1992 and 2004, targeting various restaurants and supermarkets around the United States.
In every case, the caller bluffs to be a police officer and persuades management that one of their staff members had been accused of robbing clients.
The managers were then instructed to do a strip search or engage in personal misconduct with a specific employee until the man on the phone was happy.
On April 9, 2004, a similar call was placed to an McD’s restaurant in Mount Washington, Kentucky, asking assistant manager Donna to strip search one of her staff members, Louise Ogborn.
What Happened To Donna Summers From McDonalds?
Donna Summers filed a $50 million lawsuit against McDonalds and received $1 million in punitive damages. Donald also received $100,000 in compensatory damages.
She was heartbroken when she understood what her fiance had done and called off her engagement immediately.
Nix was detained and accused of sodomy in exchange for testifying for his wrongdoing; the government gave him a plea bargain that included a reduced sentence.
He accepted the agreement immediately and was given a 5-year jail term in 2006. Likewise, Donna entered an Alford guilty plea to a charge of wrongful restraint that same year and was kept on probation for a year.
Furthermore, Donna was dismissed by McD’s for violating company policies, although the alleged caller, David Stewart, was cleared of all charges in 2006.
In 2007, Donna filed a $50 million lawsuit three years after the event against McDonald’s, alleging that the eatery chain was aware of the hoax calls but did not promptly alert Donna.
The action was successful for Donna because McDonald’s was ordered to pay her $1.1 million in damages, which was later reduced to $400,000 on appeal in 2009.
Donna Relationship With Walter Nix
Donna from McDonalds and Walter Nix were engaged at the time of the prank call. They both lived in Kentucky.
She shared ownership of the restaurant with Kim Dockery and worked as the Mount Washington Mcdonald’s assistant manager. Those familiar with Donna and Nix regarded them as a typical American couple who were content with one another and eager to begin a life together.
The occurrence was all the more stunning because Donna was considered a kind assistant manager, even though the two had no criminal histories. On April 9, 2004, a guy who claimed to be police officer Scott contacted the Mount Washington McDonald’s.
Scott stated that a customer had complained to his department that a young white lady who worked there had taken some of his stuff. Louise Ogborn, who is eighteen years old, was identified as the person who matched the caller’s description when Donna conducted staff profiling.
Louise was thus summoned to the office at Scott’s request and offered a personal search at the police station or one within the restaurant. Donna persuaded Louise to consent to a search while at work and followed the caller’s instructions.
Donna then contacted Nix, her fiancé, and asked him to meet her at the restaurant before locking him in a room with Louise. The CCTV tape that records the event shows Nix assaulting Louise and even punching her while demanding that she engage in intimate activity.
Once the caller demanded that Nix be changed, Donna finally phoned the maintenance worker, Thomas Simms, who recognized what was going on and canceled the call before calling the police.
