What Happened To Cheryl Commesso? Franklin Delano Floyd Murder
Cheryl Commesso was Franklin Delano Floyd’s former coworker.
Commesso vanished in 1989, and her case went unexplained until a gardener in Pinellas County, Florida, discovered her skeletal remains in 1995. [18] Until the remains were identified a year later, she was categorized as a Jane Doe.
She had been beaten and received two gunshot wounds to the head, according to an archeologist.
After coworkers saw Floyd and Commesso fight, Floyd and Suzanne Sevakis became persons of interest in the investigation. Floyd said Commesso reported Sevakis for falsely declaring her income, which led to Sevakis’ loss of government benefits.
The argument took place outside the club where exotic dancers Sevakis and Commesso performed. Floyd allegedly hit Commesso in the face, according to a coworker.
Floyd and Hughes both used various aliases. The pair were under suspicion at the time of her death in the 1989 disappearance of Hughes’ former coworker Cheryl Ann Commesso, who was 18 years old. Commesso had vanished after a heated argument with Floyd. In addition, Floyd was viewed as the prime suspect in the passing of his wife.
Franklin Delano Floyd Murder Trial Details
One of the numerous reasons they kept moving around the United States was because of Franklin Floyd’s extensive history of abuse and criminal activity. In fact, he had been on the run the whole time he had been in Suzanne’s life.
His prior convictions included a 10-to-20-year term for kidnapping a four-year-old child from a bowling alley in 1962 while he was just 18 years old and sexually assaulting him. In 1963, he made an attempt to flee and robbed a bank while taking advantage of a doctor’s appointment.
He met Suzanne’s mother in 1974 while he was hiding out and used a variety of aliases, including Trenton Davis, Warren Marshall, and Brandon Williams.
Floyd was finally found guilty of killing Cheryl Commesso in November 2002. He is still awaiting execution in Pinellas County, Florida. He claimed in September 2014 that he had killed Michael immediately after taking him hostage, but nobody was found at the alleged crime scene.
In the same year, a DNA test performed by her daughter in an effort to track down her relatives located the final missing piece, restoring Suzanne’s birth name and confirming her identity. Floyd has never been found guilty of any participation in Suzanne’s death. Hence the investigation into her death is technically still ongoing.
