Carlos Sainz’s father who is a two-time World Rally Championship winner was taken to the hospital on Thursday after a serious crash.
Both of the father-son duo are racing drivers. Similarly, he is the son of multiple rally champion Carlos Sainz senior and has been racing in Formula One since 2015, alongside Max Verstappen.
The Legendary Carlos Sr. has been rallying for over 40 years and is currently competing in the Extreme E championship. He was racing in the all-electric series when his car barrel-rolled after being hit by a rival on Thursday.
Fortunately, the father of the same-named Ferrari Formula 1 star was able to escape his ODYSSEY 21 with the assistance of rescuers. However, it was clear that he was unsteady on his feet and clearly in pain.

What Happened To Carlos Sainz’s Father?
Carlos Sainz Sr, the father of Formula 1driver Carlos Jr, was involved in a crash, in the series for Acciona. Sainz XE Team was in the final of the Island X-Prix in Sardinia when the wreck occurred.
He was leading the race when he was hit by Johan Kristoffersson of Rosberg X Racing, and his car flipped as a result of the impact. Sainz was temporarily trapped inside the car as it lay on its roof with the red flag flying.
He was eventually able to exit the car before being taken to the hospital, while Kristoffersson was given a 30-second penalty, relegating the Rosberg team to third place.

He stated that he was released from the hospital after all of his medical tests were fine. Nevertheless, he is dissatisfied with what happened on the track as the person behind this major incident only suffered a 30-second penalty.
Also, he stated that in his 40-year racing career, this was one of the most serious accidents he had ever witnessed that did not result in an exemplary penalty.
Following the crash, the Sainz XE Team confirmed that Sainz remained conscious in the immediate aftermath of the crash and was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
