The couple initially planned to spend four months on a trip, but everything changed when Petito went missing from the mid-journey. Later, it was found that she was killed by Laundrie.
The FBI officials discovered the remains of the 22-year-old Petitio on September 19 at Bridger–Teton National Forest in Wyoming. An autopsy revealed that she was killed by manual strangulation.

Brian Laundrie, Gabby Petito’s fiance, shot himself dead, and his body was discovered in the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park on October 20.
The 22-year-old Petito was reported missing on September 11, 2021, after she lost contact with her family and relatives. Soon after, the search began for the 22-year-old New York woman.
As Mrs. Petitio was a Youtuber, many people took interest in her missing case, and many people engaged to find her. Initially, the police investigated the case from a missing person’s point of view.
Later, Laundrie was declared a person of interest, and the court issued an arrest warrant for Laundrie after it was revealed that he falsely used Petito’s debit card to withdraw money.
However, by September 17, 2021, the 23-year-old Laundrie had gone missing, and the police began searching for the couple. On September 21, 20201, Petito’s body was found.

Brian Laundrie and Gabby Petito’s story has taken another turn in 2022.
As per multiple media reports, the Petitio family has filed a lawsuit for $50 million wrongful against Police in Utah, accusing them of negligence that led to the death of the 22-year-old New York woman.
One of the individuals reported an alleged assault against Petitio by her boyfriend, Laundrie, before her death. Now, the family thinks that they lost their daughter because the officers didn’t react timely to the call.
The notebook which was found from the death spot of Laundrie revealed that he killed her girlfriend. He wrote that he killed Petitio to take her pain away.
Later, the 23-year-old Laundrie himself committed suicide, and the FBI closed the case declaring Laundrie as the killer of Petitio.
