Brett DeLaura, who was a contestant for the show, The Real Love Boat, disapeared from the show unexpectedly and it was later revealed that he had to drop out due to an illness. He had decided to pursue participating in the dating show with the sole purpose of finding a life partner with whom he could bond well and share his happiness and memories.
Brett DeLaura is a musician from Orange County, California and loves to play all sorts of musical instruments from guitar, drum, DJ and even dabbles in singing and dancing. He works a DJ, going to a wide variety of events like wedding, parties to even business events.
He is part Hawaiian due to his father and half-white due to his mother. He also has a brother, who also dabbles in music. They have created a band together named ‘Holiday State’.

What Actually Happened to Him?
The dating show put out a statement after the 2nd episode on what had happened by stating that his illness had affected his show-life balance and ultimately he had no choice but to leave. Many fans were sad to see him go and some even pointed out that they would not watch the show without their favorite star.
After his departure unexpectadly in the 2nd episode, both the contestants and fans were appalled by this news and were quick to speculate what had happened. Some said that he had a clash with the show directors, some said he didn’t feel the love there, and many more.
Even though fans have speculated there could be other reasons for him leaving and developed mulptiple conspiracies and this further amplified as Brett has yet to deliver a message regarding his departure. However, his recent instagram video post showed him with a common cold.
The biggest shock probably came from his fellow Contestant, Brooke White who, after hearing the news, she said she was feeling nauseus and could throw up as if she was seasick. Who could blame her! She had been the one who shared the most interaction and had closest relation with him in such a brief time.
Also, the show will continue to run as usual and the show has stated there will be no necessary changes. The show hasn’t been successful in the ratings like they had anticipated. However, they are still hopeful that they can penetrate this show to the broader mass.
Review of the TV Show
The TV show was designed to be about dating where there would be 5 single women and 5 single men who would come together to a ship that would sail for Barcelona and would get to know each other. It is hosted by real life couple – Jerry O’Connell and Rebecca Romijn and first aired recently, i.e. Oct 5, 2022 .
From a business perspective, this show is also designed to be a medium of promotion for the Princess Cruise Lines, a luxury Cruise service operating throughout the American and Eurpoean continent. Their brand logo is always shown clearly on every aired episodes.
The rules for the show is that there are ports where they would stop and each group (as male and female) that controls that port will get to choose their partner. Anybody that gets left will be eliminated. This way, the final man and woman will win the show and receive $50,000 and get a chance to for a lucury Cruise Vacation.
Even though the show seems interesting in their concept, it still lacks certain things to make it a great show. Firstly, the show’s rules are really confusing, and this can be witnessed right at the first episode.
The first episode was filled with confusion from the contestants and it was hard to get them through the rules completely. One contestant, Shea-Lynn, has even already picked her choice on who she wants to date. Moreover, some contestants are interested in others purely due to physical attraction which just goes on to make the show experience a generic one.
Characters from the TV show
The show featured a diverse cast of characters of currently 12, featuring people of various races i.e. white, black and asian who each wanted to get to know other and find their desired soulmate and change their relationship status from ‘currently single’ to ‘it’s complicated’. Moreover, the show would go on to add more singles after every port has ben reached.
Looking at the contestants, fom the female side, we have Brooke White, with whom Brett shared the closest bond. Then we have Alisa Shah, Emily Stone, Nicole Wang and Shea-Lynn Noyes.
From the male side, we already know about Brett DeLaure. Along with him, the show features Nathan Kroger, Michael Gonzalez, Marty Hassett, Jordan Malabanan, Forrest Jones, and Daniel Cooper.
Alongside the contestants, the show also had the hosts, captain and bartender. The crew members are also equally important in the show as they are needed to maintain the ship’s activities.
We have Captain Paolo Arrigo, whose job is to steer the ship to various port destinations. Then the ship has the lovely bartender, Ezra Freeman who is in charge of providing the drinking life for all the people. Also, there is the Cruise Director, Matt Mitcham, who is responsible for planning all the social events of the ship.
