Most of her followers and friends paid tribute to the late minister with an obituary for the deceased with stories of Ava that touched their lives and wished for her soul to rest in peace.
One of her followers wrote on Facebook, “Sad to hear about the passing of Sis. Min. Ava Muhammad. May God be pleased with her as she Rests In Eternal Peace!”
Everyone in the Islamic community expressed their sadness over the loss of such a great character from their lives while paying their condolences to the deceased’s family.
Although her family has not shared any details on the exact cause of her demise, she beat her cancer years ago, so it is not from her cancer, but it could be from old age.
Age Of The Deceased Lawyer
Born in 1951, Ava Muhammad was 71 years old when she passed away. The minister was also a lawyer who received her Juris Doctor in 1975 from Georgetown University Law Center.
Growing up in a middle-class home in Ohio, Ava made history by becoming the first female Muslim minister while respecting Christianity that her parents practiced.
The lawyer got her license to practice law suspended in 2013 but became a New York Bar Association member. Muhammad married her husband, Darius Muhammad, in 1988 and had a successful life as a lawyer.
However, at the age of 28, the successful lawyer had her spiritual awakening after getting diagnosed with cancer. On July 28, 1998, Ava accepted her appointment with the Nation of Islam as the Southern Regional Minister.
Growing up with Stokely Carmichael and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as her role models, she started her journey as a minister spreading the word of Allah to the people.
What Ethnicity Did Ava Muhammad Belong To?
Ava Muhammad belonged to the African-American ethnicity and was born to parents who were both educators. Both her parents were Christians who raised her a Christian, but with her near-death experience, her youth church did not help her.
She said she was a Christian, but her beliefs spoke to Allah as she felt comfort in the words of Allah, which focused on self-reliance for black people.
Joining the Nation of Islam in 1981, the activist claimed that her refuging in the Nation of Islam helped her defeat cancer and devoted her whole life to helping others like her.
