What Happened To Anthony Templet? ‘I Just Killed My Dad’ Documentary Of Missing Child

Anthony Templet, who was just 20 years old at the time, is a resident of Louisiana. In June 2019, he shot and murdered his father, Burt Templet, in the family home.

According to WAFB9, Templet was first charged with murder in the second degree. However, the penalty was eventually lowered to manslaughter when his family stated that he had acted in self-defense after being subjected to violence by his father for years.

The previous year, he entered a plea of no contest to a charge of negligent murder for the passing of his father. As a result of this plea, he was sentenced to five years of supervised probation with credit for time already served.

Anthony Templet was only 17 years old when he murdered his father and spoke about his experience recently.

Following the shooting of his father at their residence in Baton Rouge on June 3, 2019, he was taken into custody. According to the local news station WAFB9, Anthony admitted his guilt when speaking on the phone with an operator from the 911 service.

Burt passed just a few days after the incident in which he was shot. Anthony told the 911 operator that he and his father got into a fist fight because his father attempted to strike Anthony. He accepted that he had shot his father a total of three times.

According to what Anthony told the investigators, the conflict began while they were arguing about Anthony’s phone. According to WAFB9, Burt had allegedly attempted to rummage through the phone to determine whether or not Anthony had been in communication with Burt’s ex-wife, Susan Templet. Anthony reported that his father was intoxicated and attempted to attack him before the latter rushed to his room and retrieved a revolver from the nightstand.

Anthony Templet Missing

Anthony Templet shot his father three times to defend himself. Still, a stunning discovery was brought to light when more reports came in.

Someone who had not been anticipated to get in touch did so, and it turned out to be Anthony’s long-lost half-sister Natasha. She disclosed that Burt had kidnapped Anthony 11 years ago, meaning he had been listed as a missing person for over a decade.

Natasha disclosed to Wafb.com that Burt had taken a five years old Anthony from his home in Texas in 2008 and taken him to an unknown location. She said she had waited eleven years before determining whether or not her brother was still alive. She continued by claiming that Anthony’s father had a pattern of abusing and isolating him throughout his childhood.

She went into detail about their daily home routine before Burt took Anthony from them. According to her account, Burt and her mother were together for around ten years. Still, a disturbing level of aggression marked the whole course of their relationship.

When Burt took Anthony, his mother, Teresa, and his sister put up missing kid posters; however, they were never followed up on or given any clues. Once Burt had Anthony in his possession, he immediately began isolating him and refusing to enroll him in school. As a result, Anthony had very little interaction with the outside world.

The Advocate reports that Anthony’s attorney, Jarrett Ambeau, stated that his father had been secluded and often abused by his client.

Where Is Anthony Templet Now?

It is not quite apparent where Anthony is at this particular instant. Since Anthony just started his probation in 2021, he will likely still serve it.

According to Distractify, Anthony is supposed to complete his high school education and participate in counseling. He can also either get a full-time job or enroll in school to satisfy the terms of his punishment. Suppose he is successful in doing those things while avoiding getting into any difficulty. In that case, his criminal record may ultimately be erased. It means that it will be obliterated.

According to Decider, Anthony has reestablished his relationships with his mother and the rest of his mother’s side of the family since his release on probation.

In the documentary, an earlier version of Anthony struggles to hold back his emotions as he watches an old interview video of himself being played. The version of himself from the past takes a moment to reflect before responding affirmatively to whether or not he believes he can lead a regular life.
