Ms. Hill received a voicemail message from Virginia Thomas over the weekend, according to Virginia Thomas. During Justice Thomas’ confirmation hearings in 1991, Ms. Hill accused him of sexual harassment.

Justice Thomas was confirmed after denying the charges. Ms. Hill has stated that she will not apologize. Ms. Thomas claimed she left a message on Ms. Hill’s office answering machine with the intention of “offering an olive branch” in a statement on Tuesday.

Ms. Thomas reportedly responded, “I would want for you to consider an apology and a thorough explanation of why you did what you did with my husband at some point.”

“So think about it, pray about it, and come to understand why you did what you did,” Ms. Thomas’ answerphone message said, according to ABC News.

The recording was reported to the university public safety office by Ms. Hill, a lecturer at Brandeis University near Boston. “I have no intention of apologizing,” she told ABC News. “I stand by my 1991 testimony.”

In a statement, Ms. Thomas, a conservative activist, said she would be delighted to meet Ms. Hill “and converse with her if she would be ready to do the same.”

During Justice Thomas’ confirmation hearing, Anita Hill said that while they worked together at the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Justice Thomas harassed her with graphic sexual remarks and pornographic films.
