Marko mentioned Newey having “several operations,” implying that his absence from duty meant the RB16B’s setup was not optimal at certain races.
“The accident was devastating.” “Adrian had got several bones broken and head injuries,” the 78-year-old Austrian said.
Bernie Ecclestone had stepped in to help with Newey’s immediate medical care in Croatia and transportation back to England.

The 62-year-old aerodynamicist was photographed with Horner, Marko, and reserve driver Alex Albon at a lunch table outside the Red Bull hospitality unit at the Circuit of The Americas and taking part in the victory celebrations next to the team principal’s wife, Geri.
