When it comes to speed, NASCAR undeniably falls behind the other two popular races, IndyCar and Formula 1. … Despite being powered by a V-8 engine, NASCAR vehicles average out at a top speed of just over 321 kmh (200 mph), which is quite a bit slower than the top speeds recorded in F1 and IndyCar vehicles.

Formula 1 vs IndyCar – Which Is Faster – The Conclusion

The average top speed of a NASCAR car is just over 321km/h, or 200mph. Compared to a Formula 1 car, this is quite a bit slower, as they hit speeds of 360km/h (223mph). Indycar – another major American racing series – is faster still, reaching speeds of 380km/h (236mph).

F1 cars accelerate from 0 – 60mph in roughly 2.6 seconds. This might seem slow given their top speed, however as a lot of their speed comes from the aerodynamics (which works better the quicker the car is going), they can’t unleash full power from a standing start.

The newest all-electric Formula E race cars reach maximum speeds of 280km/h, compared to top speeds reaching 397km/h for F1. Comparing their rate of acceleration, Formula E can go from 0-100km/h in 2.8 seconds. F1 just pips them to the post, reaching the same speeds in an impressive 2.6 seconds.
