What does “Stan” mean in K-pop?

Basaically, it is following a group or soloist and supporting them in their career, but not as much as a fan. There are many people who say “stan loona” or “stan x group”, it refers to knowing more about such a group and supporting them in their projects.

My unpopular views on K-pop:

  1. BLACKPINK will be the most famous girl group currently but I don’t think they deserve the title of the nation’s group, not even Twice, that was, is, and will be SNSD.
  2. BTS songs have not lost quality no matter how hard people insist on saying yes.
  3. Twice deserves a break, they’re going to kill them. First Mina, now Jeongyeon, what are they doing with them.
  4. JYP is not as good a company as they think (they have literally abandoned GOT7) and neither is YG such a bad company.
  5. I’m not sure NCT is a good idea. 23 members? Who came up with it. It seems they had too many trainees and they didn’t know what to do with them. I think they should stop at 25. Edit: I rectify. I don’t think that’s a bad idea at all, but SM doesn’t really know how to manage or distribute them among themselves to achieve equity in the group.
  6. Lia’s voice is so beautiful (see the video of her singing Price Tag ), but it doesn’t quite fit with ITZY’s songs (I don’t know why it partly reminds me of IU).
  7. IZ * ONE’s Chaeyeon, TWICE’s Momo, BLACKPINK’s Chungha and Lisa are among the best dancers for me and for the dancers, they would be between J-Hope, Taemin, Kai, Hyunjin and Shownu.
  8. Chungha deserves more recognition, her songs are great, and she is very talented.
  9. Somi is not as bad a soloist as they say, in fact she is not. That she would have done better in a group, well, she is not, period, but do not belittle her for that. Birthday is not a bad song, neither is Outta My Head, I literally spent days playing them.
  10. A Pink is still a great group and they haven’t lost quality and they are really fun. If you want to see a group of girls who are really great, watch the videos of A Pink, I guarantee that you will laugh.
  11. BTS has a very bad line distribution, especially with the rap line.
  12. Yuna in my opinion is not the visual of ITZY, although she is my favorite member (beauty is subjective), but ITZY is definitely a visual group, including Chaeryeong.
  13. MAMAMOO and Red Velvet have the best girl group vocals for me.
  14. Dreamcatcher deserves MORE recognition. His music is amazing and different. If you haven’t heard it, please do so.
  15. IU is the best solo artist, I don’t understand why they hate her or call her cocky, because she is not. I know many ARMY’s do it because she is JK’s ideal type, but that doesn’t mean anything, in fact many men in Korea have chosen her as their ideal type, and she doesn’t deserve to be hated for something as immature as that.
  16. BLACKPINK in my opinion lacks much stage presence. When I compare their performances with other groups, I can’t help but feel a slight sense of disappointment. Sorry.
  17. TXT is being given too much work, the same goes for Stray Kids, they have too many comebacks a year and it seems like they don’t have enough time to rest, which in the future may not be good for the members.
  18. ATEEZ is one of the best fourth generation bands for me, their stage presence is no joke and their songs are amazing.
  19. I think Tzuyu’s visuals are greatly exaggerated, she is really very beautiful but I prefer Sana for example. I like faces with a vivid look, I don’t know how to explain it.
  20. Rosé and Lisa are very thin, that must be very bad for their body, such an extreme low weight can be dangerous.
  21. EXO has amazing vocals.
  22. I don’t think EVERGLOW is turning into “Mia and her friends” as they say.
  23. This is an impression that I have to some extent, but I think that BTS needs a break. The members sometimes give the feeling of being tired or exhausted from their fame.
  24. MONSTA X is underrated, although I’m glad they’re getting more attention lately, they really deserve it.
  25. The music of Stray Kids is not loud, and their lyrics are deep, it is not all love and love, and their rap line is totally amazing, it is for me the best of the fourth generation.
  26. Related to my point above, I think K-pop songs should be riskier in terms of subject matter, there are so many things to sing about more than love, but I still love them.
  27. BLACKPINK’s Ice Cream is over hated, the song isn’t half as bad as they say.
  28. They should stop calling Jackson just GOT7’s walking meme, and Hyungwon that of MONSTA X. It’s funny to a point, but sometimes annoying, they are extremely talented idols and deserve to be recognized for it.
  29. I would like to see a group of girls with a rougher concept.
  30. Stop saying that TXT takes advantage of BTS’s fame, isn’t it, what a big nonsense because then Red Velvet took advantage of SNSD’s fame, and BLACKPINK’s from 2NE1’s, 4Minute’s CLC and GOT7’s Stray Kids . That is VERY ridiculous.
  31. LOONA’s timing is amazing, just like SEVENTEEN, I can’t get enough of watching their dance practices .
  32. YG is destroying Rosé’s vocal cords.
  33. This is just something I’ve come to realize, but YG boy groups have something in common in their names: Big Bang, Winner, iKON, TREASURE, I don’t know if I’m the only one noticing.
  34. Minnie has in my opinion one of the most beautiful voices I have heard in K-pop. I actually became a Neverland because I loved her voice. How he sang Scared to be lonely on Weekly Idol was just so beautiful.
  35. I miss old BTS songs a LOT, like Danger, Boy in luv, they are NOT my favorites. I remember the strong impact it had on me the first time I read the lyrics to NO
  36. I find it a bit annoying when I see some people making predictions like: “No kpop group is going to reach the same level as BTS” or “After BTS dissolves kpop is going to decline in popularity” that is, why. Nobody expected BTS to get to where it is, being from a small company and becoming the biggest boy band in the world today. So why are you limiting it to BTS, there are amazing groups with amazing music and many groups spring up equally day by day, so no one knows what is going to happen, let’s just hope for the best for kpop in the future.
  37. I think that many fans confuse or associate the presence on stage with having a “bitch” face so to speak or a serious or threatening expression, when it is not quite like that, a good presence is someone who is seen who enjoys, who feels confident in what he is doing and puts energy and passion into his performance. For me idols with a great presence would be Jihyo, Jimin, San, Han among others.
  38. Older bands, especially second generation ones, are greatly underrated by many of the newer fans, when it should be the opposite. BIGBANG, SNSD, SuJu, 2PM, 2NE1, SHINee, Miss A, F (x), etc, they are and have incredible music, I know that many have heard them mentioned, but I think they are bringing the relevance of kpop to current groups not knowing how much these groups made and how much they contributed to what kpop is today.
  39. I have seen many people who say that Jimin is the best dancer in BTS. Just because Jimin is more popular than J-Hope does not mean that he is a better dancer, since the fans do not follow by dance criteria but vote for their favorite. J-Hope is definitely the best dancing in BTS, his fluency, movements, rhythm, clarity, he’s amazing, and while Jimin is too, he still can’t be said to be above J-Hope.
  40. I think idols, especially those in their twenties, don’t like that fans treat them like children, I mean, what are those gifts at fan meetings , I mean, a tete? A chicken hat? Seriously? It’s a bit embarrassing.
  41. I also think that idols shouldn’t debut at a very young age, this can lead to stress and anxiety at a very young age, when they still can’t fully control it. If adolescence in itself is difficult, then imagine with all the fame, activities and criticism.
  42. And last but not least, idols ARE NOT OWNED BY FANS. They are people who cry, suffer, get angry, and fall in love. I think companies are partly to blame for that, selling an image as a product and not as a person, to feed the imagination of some obsessive fans. That’s not right, and it’s time for a lot of people to get it.

And up to here. I think my answer has been very very long, so if you reached the end: Thanks for reading ?

Edit: Ahhh. Thank you very much for the 100 votes, I’m glad you liked it ♡: D: D: D ♡ ~ Lia ~
