What does Incel mean on TikTok?
Incel is short for ‘involuntary celibate’, and people on incel forums are frequently unhappy with the fact that they are not in a relationship. The term “relationship” is used here to refer to any type of relationship.
An incel is someone who belongs to an online subculture of people who claim they can’t find love or a partner.
In recent years, the term “incel” has taken on a new connotation, referring to men who blame women for their lack of libido. Incels are frequently associated with criminality.
They then blame women for refusing to give them the gender they believe they are entitled to, converting their fear into a harmful belief system. It’s based almost completely on female denigration and ultimate male supremacy.
However, it does not have a single meaning. This phrase is widely used on the internet in memes, SMS messages, and Tiktok hashtags.
Incel was first developed In 1993 by a Canadian university student when she created a website named “Alana’s Involuntary Celibacy Project” to discuss her lack of libidinal engagement.
She was looking for a term to characterize people like her, so she welcomed anyone who was single, celibate, or hadn’t been in a relationship in a long time to contribute their opinions and experiences.
However, the project got shut down when men began commenting.
Since then incels have been increasing and are mostly associated with violence.
In 2014, when Elliot Rodger shot and killed six students at the University of California, Santa Barbara, before killing himself got viral and was a major movement in the incel community.
