ESPN’s Stephen A Smith apologized against the insensitive comments he made against MLB player Shohei Ohtani. But he has yet not said anything apologetic to the former NBA player Kwame Brown.
Celebrities talking about each other and creating a mess on the online web is not a new thing. This happens frequently and has happened again.
Sometimes, things end up after apologies because of self-realization or critics’ pressure, whereas sometimes stars stand up for what they said.
Recently, the famous sports personality and media expert Stephen A Smith is getting a lot of criticism for his comments about a few celebrities.
More than any other, Stephen was highly criticized for his comments about MLB star Shohei Ohtani because the comments he made affected a huge audience.
However, his comments on the former NBA player Kwame were a bit professional leading to lesser criticism.
What Did Stephen A Smith Say About Shohei Ohtani?
Stephen A Smith knows, and he accepts that Shohei Ohtani is one of the greatest baseball players in the ongoing MLB season.
However, he did make some comments which were not meant to hurt the Asian community, but it did anyway.
To be precise, Stephen said that Shohei is the No.1 face of MLB now, and for such a layer to have an interpreter due to the language barrier is a bit disturbing.
He said that he should know how to speak English since it is a worldwide phenomenon in the current sports industry.
He even made a 2-minute video stating this exact thing as a clarification for the comments he made.
However, people took it as a little insensitive because speaking one’s language should never be a problem.
What Did Stephen A Smith Say About Kwame Brown?
Unlike what he said to Shohei Ohtani, Stephen A Smith’s case with Kwame Brown is different; it did not affect a whole community of people.
Also, since people know Kwame as a frequently seen media chitter-chatter, they are little analytical about his case.
Kwame is trolled for his basketball career a lot, and Smith did the same thing.
He said that he was really bad at basketball, and it was truly not his thing.
Regarding the comment, Kwame replied and challenged Smith to meet him in Seattle.
However, Smith handled it properly through the media and did not make a great deal out of it.
