Depp had recently testified that Heard served his finger by throwing a vodka bottle while they were fighting in 2015. Following the case, Dr. David Spiegel is the Psychiatrist who is an expert witness for Heard’s defense. He claims that Depp’s behavior has been consistent with intimate partner violence.
Who Is Psychiatrist Dr. David Spiegel?
Dr. David Spiegel is a Norfolk physician-psychiatrist. He is an expert in the behavioral sciences, especially on alcohol and drug use. The Wilson professor also chairs the psychiatry department at Stanford University School Of Medicine.
Moving towards his educational background, he received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Yale College. In 1971, he finished his MD at the Harvard Medical School.
Through his expertise, Speigel has written more than 480 journal articles. Moreover, he has published thirteen books on Psychology.
Three of his famous books are Group Therapy for Cancer Patients, Trance and Treatment, Living Beyond Limits, and many more.

Psychiatrist Dr. David Spiegel explained the risk factors of intimate partner violence during his testimony.
The description provided by Spiegel suggests that the substance use has caused a concerning level of damage to Depp’s memory.
The Psychiatrist recalls that the actor was unable to remember some words when asked by his former therapist. This is indeed very rare for a man in his fifties. He thinks that a person of the age must remember at least two or three words. Thus, claiming that the actor was the actual perpetrator of the intimate partner violence.
During the testimony, Dr. Richard Moore reviewed the medical photos of Depp displaying his injured fingers. He claims that the medical data have been inconclusive.
Meet Dr. David Spiegel’s Wife And Family
Dr. David Spiegel is married to Helen Blau. She is an American biologist and a professor at the Donald E. and Delia B. Baxter Foundation.
According to sources, Blau was a Harvard Doctoral candidate. She is serving as the director of the Baxter Laboratory for Stem Cell Biology at the Medical School.
The couple share two children together; Daniel Blau Spiegel and Julia Blau Spiegel. The family resides in California.
