Benjamin Rutan is a South-Western City school teacher, arrested for having a sexual relationship with a former student.
Benjamin Rutan is a middle school teacher and a coach for South-Western City school.
Recently, a former student came forward about the alleged five-year sexual relationship she had with him.
In regards to her statement, Benjamin is charged with unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and sexual battery, according to court documents.
What Did Benjamin Rutan Do?
Benjamin Rutan had an unlawful sexual relationship with a minor and his student.
He abused her for five years which began when she was only 14 years old in June of 2013. The relationship continued till she was 19 years old and she finally reported Rutan on 16 November 2021.
Benjamin was the girl’s language arts teacher, track, and basketball coach at Norton Middle School at the time the relationship began.
[embed-1Furthermore, Rutan was still working as a seventh and eighth-grade language arts teacher as of Wednesday according to the school’s website.
They would have sexual contact multiple times a week on school grounds, including his classroom, or even in the school’s parking lot. Also, they would do it in the coach’s office, as well as other locations throughout Franklin County.
Benjamin Rutan Middle School Teacher Arrested On Battery Charges
Benjamin Rutan, a middle school teacher is arrested on sexual battery charges and unlawful sexual acts with a minor.
The victim first contacted authorities on 16 November of this year. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office gave a recording device to the victim on 2 December 2021.
With the help of the device, she allegedly caught Benjamin admitting to the relationship several times during a conversation from 2013-2018.

Benjamin was then arrested on Wednesday 8 December by sheriff’s deputies. He is charged with two counts of sexual battery and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.
The school district has placed the perpetrator on administrative leave pending an investigation.
