Anna Delvey is a con artist and fraudster from Germany. Anna posed as a wealthy heiress to gain access to the upper echelons of the New York social and art scenes from 2013 to 2017.
She moved to London and Paris in 2011, before relocating to New York City in 2013, where she interned for the French fashion magazine Purple.
Sorokin envisioned a private members’ club and art foundation, including the leasing of a large building for pop-up shops and exhibitions by notable artists she met while interning.
She later forged multiple wire transfer confirmations and fake financial documents to substantiate her claims of having a multimillion-euro trust fund.
Sorokin used these documents, as well as forged checks, to dupe banks, acquaintances, and realtors into handing over cash and making large loans without collateral.
She used this to fund her extravagant lifestyle, which included residencies in several upper-class hotels.
Sorokin defrauded and deceived major financial institutions, banks, hotels, and individuals for a total of $275,000 between 2013 and 2017
Sorokin was arrested on October 3, 2017, in a sting operation planned by Michael McCaffrey, a police officer with the New York Police Department working with the Manhattan District Attorney’s office.
