Kate James is the former personal assistant of Amber Heard. She recently testified in Heard’s ongoing defamation trial against her ex-husband Johnny Depp.
Between 2012 and 2015, Kate James was Amber Heard’s personal assistant. She apparently had nearly ten years of experience working with A-list celebrities.
However, she began working for Heard as a part-time employee to allow her to care for her kid on a more flexible schedule. The assistant thereafter became Heard’s full-time employee.
Her responsibilities ranged from grocery shopping for the actress to picking up her dry cleaning. Following this, James also communicated with her Hollywood agents and oversees her general workflow.
Unfortunately, the assistant’s employment was unexpectedly terminated in 2015, just after Heard married Depp.

Amber Heard’s former assistant Kate James displayed little love for her ex-employer. She appeared on a jury during Amber Heard’s continuing defamation trial over her abuse allegations against Johnny Depp.
She has testified in Depp’s $50 million defamation action, in which he claims Heard ruined his reputation with a 2018 op-ed. Between 2012 and 2015, James claimed she never saw Heard with bruises or witnessed any abuse during her three-year job.
James describes Depp as a “complete Southern gentleman. Likewise, she also explained him as calm, bashful, and quiet. Meanwhile, she added that when she worked as Heard’s assistant from 2012 to 2015 and accused the actress of being abusive.
According to James, Heard allegedly assaulted her own family, treating her sister like “a dog you kick,” and leaving her mother “terrified” by her actions.
Kate James Testimony During The Trail
Kate James testified through a pre-recorded video, accusing Heard of being verbally abusive to her when she was her boss.
During her trial, ex-assistant James was curt and rude about her working conditions. She claimed Heard paid her “extremely little” at $50,000 per year, which she considered “insulting.”
James further claimed that Heard felt that it gave her the “right to spit in my face” when she asked for a salary increment. However, she was not testifying in relation to an employment dispute.
She also claimed to have witnessed a “small conspiratorial” meeting at the Chateau Marmont, a luxury hotel in Los Angeles, in May 2014. Furthermore, she continued saying it was hard to describe but she thought they were going for some emergency.
However, things were completely different going on that day. She recalled that while strolling the streets of New York, Heard described her as being in a “really dysregulated state.”
