Allegra Stratton, a government consultant, has quit after an outcry over a No ten officials’ video about throwing a Christmas party.

The footage, obtained by ITV, showed the PM’s then-press secretary giggling over how to depict a party hosted by Downing Street workers days later.

Ms. Stratton said she would “regret the statements for the rest of my days” and apologized in a heartfelt message.

The Prime Minister also expressed regret for the video.

Boris Johnson claimed he was “furious” over the film and was beginning an investigation into whether regulations had been broken at the opening of PMQs.

After a week of Downing Street refusing to clarify what happened at the party, Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer claimed that Prime Minister David Cameron had duped the nation.

Why Did Allegra Stratton Quit?

On Wednesday, Boris Johnson’s adviser, Allegra Stratton, resigned after the Prime Minister apologized “unreservedly” for a leaked film of aides laughing about a lockdown Christmas dinner.

As he faced a barrage of inquiries about whether he had told the truth about an alleged Downing Street Christmas party, the Prime Minister said he was “furious.”

Following Labour leader, Sir Keir Starmer’s appeal for Mr. Johnson to “come clean and apologize” if claims about the gathering on December 18 last year were genuine, the Conservative Party leader found himself in the spotlight.

“There was no Christmas party,” according to Downing Street, and Covid-19 guidelines were “respected at all times.”

Mr. Johnson has initiated an investigation into allegations that Downing Street personnel violated lockdown procedures.

Prime Minister’s Questions comes as rumors surface that the government is planning to enact a ‘Plan B’ of additional limitations to combat the spread of Covid-19.
