Toni, Towanda, Trina, and Tamar, Traci’s sisters, established a girl group called The Braxtons and signed with Arista Records. They were dropped from the label when their debut single “Good Life” failed to create an impact in the highly competitive R&B industry of the 1990s.
The band was able to perform for superproducers Antonio “L.A.” Reid and Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, who were launching their own record company at the time. The group ended up as the record label signed Toni Braxton solely, and the group split.
