Was Nathan Dunlap Executed Or Is He Still Alive?

Nathan Dunlap is still alive in 2021.

He was found guilty in the four counts of first-degree murder, attempted murder, burglary, and robbery in 1996. Later that year, he was given the death penalty and an additional 108 years.

However, Dunlap filed a lot of petitions after he was sentenced, one about his trial attorney being ineffective as the attorney didn’t put forward any information on his mental health issues and child abuse.

In 2020, then governor, Jared Polis signed a bill repealing the death penalty in Colorado. He commuted the sentences of four people at the time.

So, even though he was sentenced to death in 1996, Nathan Dunlap is still alive and currently serving the sentence for life without parole.
