Since joining Vinesauce in 2011, Joel has contributed more to its success than anyone, and to think that his dedication to the TV channel started with something as simple as responding to his commentary from Vinny. Joel’s style and personality is weird and crazy, and the Vinesauce community wouldn’t have it any other way. The streamer is best known for his streams for his Windows Destruction experiences and his DOS madness streams.
Biography of Vinesauce Joel
The Twitch streamer was born Joel Varg Jarvison on August 29, 1993. He was born in his home country – Sweden. Concrete details of his formative years, such as his upbringing and the identities of all of his family members, remain confidential. However, the internet personality had many strange experiences as a child, many of them expressing his lifelong love of games.
Joel remembers the time of his lifeabout 6 years ago. He would create a fortress of pillows in his bedroom and keep himself there while he played with his CRT television and Nintendo 64. He was also a fan of comic books like The Phantom and also involved in adult entertainment. Once in his childhood, he changed his father’s office image to playmate legend, Pamela Anderson. He managed to convince his father that it was a virus.
Joel’s love for the game never left him as he entered his teens. He enjoyed watching live matches on platforms like Twitch. This is how he first discovered Vinesauce in May 2011 after following an ad from Vinny’s Spore on 4chan’s /v/board. His interest was piqued when he saw the little community Vinny had built, so he decided to leave a chat message asking if he was just another streamer who didn’t want to respond to the community chat.
He was surprised when he received an answer from Vinny not expecting it. This convinced him to completely immerse himself in the community and get to know all the streamers and viewers. He was also active within the community, sometimes making artwork for streamers to use in their streams. Vinny took note of her participation and started inviting her to some of his streams. Vinesauce Joel got really sick when he was drunk in one of Vinny’s Mario Retardy streams. His antics drew viewers in – an experience he considered an honor.
As his popularity within the Vinesauce community continued to grow, Vinny offered him a streamer spot as a reward for his contributions to the Vinesauce site. However, Joel initially turned down the offer, as he didn’t see himself as fitting in this space. However, he took advantage of it a few months later, after deciding to give streaming a try. He was an instant hit, and in his early days he was known for his thick Swedish accent which caused him to utter pronounced pronunciations.
Joel’s first stream was of the hit 1993 game known as DENT. Community response was enough to convince Vinny to promote him to full-time Vinesauce streamer. This excluded a time when Vinesauce Joel was also streaming other games like GTA IV, Half-Life, and Metal Gear Solid 2

1. His rivalry with Rev is well documented
Joel is the one committed to making his craft as believable as possible. He’s willing to do almost anything to please the community – and that includes having a feud with his fellow streamers. Vinesauce Joel, for 5 years on Vinesauce has maintained a well-documented rivalry with third most popular Vinesauce streamer Revscarecrow.
The two tried to get along to do some of the craziest things in their game. In fact, Joel took it a step further when he released The Revnarok Album, detailing his “hate” for Rev.
2. Joel’s accounts were hacked in 2015
Joel lost control of his YouTube and Twitch accounts when someone hacked them on November 4, 2015. The hacker was later determined to be someone identified by the identity of Towel.
The Towel hack story was well known as he also did the same to YouTuber Markiplier as well as other social media personalities. Towel played with Vinesauce Joel’s channels and did everything from uploading videos to banning almost every comment on Joel’s Twitch account.
The hacker retained control of the accounts for about a week. On November 10, six days after the hack, Vinesauce Joel was able to access his accounts again.
3. He made games as a teenager
Besides sitting in front of the screen with a controller on his hands, Joel also enjoys making games. As a teenager, he created some of his own games, most of which were role-playing games. One of his most popular was called BBQ Quest, also known as Grill Sasen. He designed the RPG in 2007 and updated it in 2009. However, the game remained so until 2015, the year of Vinesauce’s charity, when the Vinesauce community made generous donations for the refresh.

- As a child, he once searched for the term “big boobs” on his father’s PC. He didn’t clear the history when he was done and his father’s colleagues at work will see it later in his search history.
- In August 2015, the streamer decided to go all out to shave their hair completely off. At the time, he was said to resemble American heavy metal musician, Phil Anselmo.
- He has type 1 diabetes, a condition he has since learned to live with.
