Anton Yelchin’s father Viktor Yelchin is a figure skater. He was the highlight of the Leningrad Ice Ballet, according to the New York Times.

Yelchin qualified for the 1972 Olympics, but according to the Times, they were denied admittance because of their religion. Because he was Jewish, the Russians refused to let him compete in the Olympics.

Following his retirement from the Pasadena Figure Skating Club, he began instructing figure skaters. Sasha Cohen’s initial trainer when she earned the Olympic silver medal in 2006 was him.

His father has one sibling named Eugene Yelchin. He is a Russian-American artist best recognized for his work as an author and illustrator of picture books for kids.

A Newbery Honor was given to Eugene’s book, Breaking Stalin’s Nose, in 2012. He and M. T. Anderson co-wrote The Assassination of Brangwain Spurge, which was recognized as a National Book Award Finalist for Young People’s Literature in 2018.

Irina Korina, Anton Yelchin’s mother, was a competitive skater in the Soviet Union. In 1972, she achieved Olympic eligibility.

She couldn’t separate though because she was Jewish. She eventually immigrated to America.

According to a 2009 Pottstown Mercury article, Irina choreographed performances for skaters like Michelle Kwan, Tara Lipinski, and Sasha Cohen.

She supported her son’s career by routinely attending premieres of movies and TV shows with him when he was younger and more recently.

Since Anton has never mentioned his siblings, it’s hard to say whether he does or doesn’t.

What Caused To Anton Yelchin’s Death?

A new documentary aims to bring attention back to Anton Yelchin’s amazing life after the actor died in a terrible accident at the age of 27.

His injuries would have caused him to die in less than a minute, according to the doctor, who determined that “blunt traumatic asphyxia” was the cause of his death.

The theatrical debut of “Love, Antosha,” which is competing for release, took place on Monday in Park City as part of the Sundance Film Festival.

The documentary’s creators, Viktor Yelchin and Irina Korina, who are also his parents, were present. The film is a genuine and extraordinarily enlightening tribute to Yelchin, a creative force of nature.

After he died in 2016, his parents began the process of collecting information and even interviewing others who knew him when they would be in town.

Garret Price, the director, claimed that “50 percent of it was already there” when he joined the project to begin the filmmaking process.
