However, she started learning to communicate through blinks, speak, eat, and move again at the age of 15 in 2012. Furthermore, Arlen started competing in swimming and even qualified for the 2012 Summer Paralympics_for the disabled_ in London, after putting a record-breaking performance in the swimming trials. Moreover, she won a gold medal and three silver medals for the USA team.
After her exceptional performance in London, Victoria was exempted from participating in the 2013 Paralympics after the board said she did not bare proof that she was permanently disabled.
