Vicky Karayiannis was born on August 13, 1987 in the United States to Toni Karayiannis (mother) who also had her brother and named him Nicholas Karayiannis. Her family has Greek origins where she successfully ran catering and music businesses. Nicholas inherited this talent for catering and is now a successful New York restaurant executive known by the nickname DJ Nick Blast.
Being that she is someone who kept away from the public, not much has been revealed about her childhood life, education, early career, and accomplishments. According to reports, she worked as a journalist in Paris and became a philanthropist following the creation of a charitable foundation with her husband, Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation.
Relationship with Chris Cornell and their children
Vicky Karayiannis has become relatively popularfollowing her relationship with Chris Cornell. The pair reportedly met while Vicky was doing her publicity work and Chris was touring France with his band Audioslave. Things went well between them and Chris reportedly offered to give her a Harry Winston diamond ring at a French bar. Her response resulted in their nuptials in 2004 with their close friends and family members in attendance.
Shortly after getting married, the couple welcomed their first child together, a baby girl named Toni Cornell in September 2004. The following year, their second child, a baby boy named Christopher Nicholas Cornell, was born in December 2005.
Before Vicky however, Chris was married to SarahSilver – Manager of Alice In Chains, with whom he had a daughter named Lilian Jean in the year 2000. The duo got divorced in 2004 after which Chris tied the knot with Vicky.
In the year 2012, the musician and his wife started a foundation called Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation, which takes care of homeless, abused, poor and neglected children. The foundation has continued to be true to its purpose since its inception; touching and changing the lives of many of its beneficiaries for good, including partnering with other international charities such as the International Rescue Committee on World Refugee Day.
The death of Chris Cornell
Following the sad passing of her husband under questionable circumstances, Vicky Karayiannis is doing everything in her power to raise awareness about the cause of Chris’ death, which she believes was largely due to her doctor.
Prior to his death, Chris reportedly suffered a shoulder injury in addition to suffering from depression. Her doctor, Dr. Robert Koblin, prescribed her psychoactive drugs – benzodiazepine. Vicky described the drugs as “dangerous mind-altering controlled substances.”
Her husband was found dead in the bathroom of his Detroit hotel room on May 17 after performing with the band Soundgarden earlier. The coroner decided that the cause of his death was suicide by hanging after an autopsy report. However, Vicky doesn’t believe this, as she blames the late singer’s doctor for prescribing too many drugs that could alter the person’s mind.
It was reported in November 2018 that VickyKarayiannis was suing her deceased husband’s doctor over the death of her husband following his negligence in 2017. We are awaiting the outcome of the sequel to learn more about Dr Robert’s fate. Koblin.
