Unga Group Limited is a Kenya-based holding company that has a majority shareholding in companies involved with the manufacture and marketing of a broad range of human nutrition, animal nutrition, and animal health products. Unga Group Limited entered into a strategic investment partnership with US-based Seaboard Corporation in 2000 to form Unga Holdings Limited in which Unga Group Limited owns 65% and Seaboard Corporation 35%.
Unga Holdings Limited subsidiaries include Unga Limited, Unga Farm Care (EA) Limited and Unga Millers (U) Limited. Over 90% of the company’s revenue is derived from Kenya with the remainder attributed to sales in Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda. Unga Limited, one of Kenya’s oldest companies, was established in 1908 with the aim of serving the milling needs of the fledgling wheat-growing industry in the Rift Valley region. The first mill was commissioned in April 1909. The subsequent expansion resulted in additional investments in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. Today, Unga Holdings Limited has production facilities in Nairobi, Nakuru, Eldoret, Kampala and Dar-es-Salaam.

Unga Limited prides itself on being Kenya’s oldest and still one of the largest millers, with over a century of heritage in flour milling. The company’s leading brands are packaged in attractive packs, offering directions for use, which represent quality and hygiene, create visual impact and stimulate demand on the retail shelf. The company is proud to be ISO 22000:2005 certified which specifies requirements for a food safety management system where an organisation in food production must demonstrate its ability to control food safety hazards in order to ensure that food is safe at the time of human consumption.
Our central laboratory is also ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accredited; demonstrating the competence to carry out tests and/or calibrations, including sampling. It covers testing and calibration performed using standard methods, non-standard methods, and laboratory-developed methods. Additionally we pride ourselves in being a pioneer in flour fortification, which supports Kenya’s Vision 2030 for development aiming to reduce the widespread prevalence of vitamin and mineral deficiencies, particularly among vulnerable groups such as children and mothers.
The company’s key business is wheat milling. The most important products produced are EXE Bakers Flour and EXE Home Baking Flour. To complement these two main lines and to widen its portfolio of nutritional solutions, the company distributes wheat flour specialties from UNGA GROUP LIMITED as well as animal nutrition products from Unga Farm Care (EA) Limited.
Unga Millers (U) Limited manufactures and markets high quality products proven to provide lasting solutions to consumer needs. EXE Bakers Flour addresses the needs of Uganda’s bakers more effectively than any other brand in the market. EXE All-Purpose Home Baking Flour, EXE Home Baking Flour and Unga Limited specialty flour brands are widely available in supermarkets and self- service stores. Maize meal products are distributed through the same channels with bulk supplies made to the UN missions in South Sudan and the Congo.

Unga Group Limited: Animal Nutrition
The animal feeds industry in Uganda is highly fragmented with very many feed mills. Unga Millers (U) Limited distributes Unga Farm Care (EA) Limited Viminera vitamin and mineral feed premixes along with other feed additives. To further add value to the premixes and feed additives, Unga Millers (U) Limited offers feed formulation support and laboratory testing of raw materials and finished feeds.
Unga Millers (U) Limited also distributes Afya Bora mineral supplements from Unga Farm Care (EA) Limited that provide the highest quality source of nutrient supplements to ensure livestock are in the best of health, guaranteeing high productivity. Afya Bora mineral supplements are mostly sold in the central and western parts of Uganda where dairy and indigenous breeds of cattle are reared respectively.

This portfolio includes livestock feeds, cattle minerals, feed premixes, customer specific formulations, feed concentrates, acaricides, dewormers, vaccines, antibiotics, and analytical services.
