Ukunda town is a town in Kenya, located in Kwale County in Kenya.

Ukunda Town Geography

It is on the coast of the Indian Ocean next to Diani Beach 30 kilometres south of Mombasa near the border with Tanzania.
It covers the entire Ukunda and Gombatto Wards and sections of Kinondo ward. The town borders Mwachema river in the north and Makongeni in the South. It is endowed with clean and pristine beaches which have 26 beach hotels of three to five star rating. The area equally boasts of a lengthy coral reef which is being conserved as a fish breeding site and attraction for tourisms. Additionally, the sacred Kaya forests: Diani, Likunda, Kinondo, Tibwa, Mivumoni and Chale.

Economic Activities in Ukunda Town

The town has a commercial centre covering Diani and Ukunda extending from Darling to Conna ya Musa along the Mombasa-Lungalunga road. Along the same road there is Mwabungo commercial centre further towards Msambweni. Another section of the commercial centre for the town runs along the beach road.

Ukunda Town Tourist Attractions

Large parts are occupied with premises with support service businesses for the tourism industry. Also common are low to middle class residential estates along the Mombasa – Lungalunga road and high cost residential cottages along the beach road. A lot more space is available in these areas for further development of residential estates. Base Titanium company fall in the upper part of Ukunda town and provides great potential for growth in terms of commercial facilities and residential services. Ukunda/Diani has a town zoning and infrastructure plan which will be enforced during the plan period for faster growth of the town.
The Ukunda Airport is located in Ukunda.
