Tyrus Wiki, Age, Wife, Children, Real Name, Parents, Net Worth

Tyrus, born George Timothy Murdoch on February 21, 1973, in Boston, Massachusetts, is an American former professional wrestler, Fox News contributor, author, and actor.

He spent years in WWE as Brodus Clay before winning the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship in 2022. His 2022 memoir Just Tyrus became a New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller.

Who is Tyrus?

Tyrus, whose real name is George Timothy Murdoch, is an American media personality and former professional wrestler.

He built his career across WWE, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, and the National Wrestling Alliance before transitioning into television commentary and authorship.

Today, he appears regularly on Fox News as a contributor and panelist on the late-night show Gutfeld! He also hosts Maintaining with Tyrus on OutKick, a Fox-owned streaming platform launched in 2024.

Tyrus brings a rare combination of athletic credibility and humor to his media work. His background as a former bodyguard for Snoop Dogg, a WWE superstar, and a bestselling author gives him a story unlike most television personalities.

He has three published books, two of which landed on the New York Times bestseller list.

Early Life of Tyrus

George Murdoch was born on February 21, 1973, in Boston, Massachusetts. His parents were both teenagers at the time: his mother was 15, and his father was 19.

The household was marked by domestic violence, with his father physically abusing both his mother and him. One incident left Murdoch with permanent swelling in one eye, which prompted his mother to leave.

After his mother moved back to her parents’ home, Murdoch and his brother could not stay because of racial prejudice from his mother’s white family.

Both boys were biracial, and the family did not accept them. They moved in with a foster family for several years.

Murdoch eventually reunited with his mother. By age 15, however, he left home due to personal circumstances and spent much of his high school years without stable housing.

Despite these challenges, he threw himself into football. Sports became his route to structure and eventually to higher education.

Tyrus Age

Tyrus is 53 years old as of 2026, born on February 21, 1973. His birthday falls under the Pisces zodiac sign.

He became the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion in November 2022, making him one of the largest men ever to hold that title.

Tyrus Ethnicity and Nationality

Tyrus is American by nationality, born and raised in the United States. His ethnic background is mixed: his father is Black and his mother is white.

Growing up biracial in a divided household shaped his worldview and became a central part of his 2022 memoir.

Tyrus Height and Weight

Tyrus stands 6 feet 7 inches tall, which equals approximately 2.01 meters. His billed wrestling weight is 375 pounds, or around 170 kilograms.

His size and athletic build were key factors in his professional wrestling career and remain part of his public image.

Tyrus Education

Tyrus attended Quartz Hill High School in Los Angeles, California, during the 1990s. He then enrolled at Antelope Valley College before transferring to the University of Nebraska at Kearney, where he studied education and played college football for the Lopers.

His football career ended after a leg surgery went wrong, leaving him with a permanent limp. He graduated with a degree in physical education and initially aimed for a career in teaching.

Tyrus Career

George Murdoch’s path to professional wrestling ran through some unlikely territory. After his football career ended, he worked as a substitute teacher during the day and as a bouncer at clubs at night. That combination of size and charisma eventually put him in front of the right people.

His formidable physical presence led to work in private security. The most notable job in that period came when he joined the security team for rapper Snoop Dogg and traveled the world with him.

A chance encounter changed his trajectory. Professional wrestler Tommy Dreamer witnessed Murdoch handle two disruptive bar patrons in California, noting both the physical skill and the natural entertainment value. That moment opened the door to professional wrestling.

WWE Debut and the Brodus Clay Era

In 2006, Murdoch signed with World Wrestling Entertainment and trained in their developmental territories, Deep South Wrestling and Florida Championship Wrestling, under the ring name G-Rilla. His first match saw him defeat Big Bully Douglas.

He returned to WWE during the fourth season of NXT, the show’s rookie competition format, where he was mentored by Ted DiBiase and later paired with Alberto Del Rio as his bodyguard on the main roster.

In 2012, WWE repackaged him as the Funkasaurus, a dancing character managed by Naomi and Cameron of the Funkadactyls. The character, while unusual, gave Murdoch significant television time and built him a loyal fanbase. He wrestled on the main roster until his departure from WWE in June 2014.

During his WWE run, Pro Wrestling Illustrated ranked him No. 74 in the PWI 500 list of top singles wrestlers in both 2012 and 2013.

TNA and the Tyrus Name

In September 2014, Murdoch joined Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, adopting the ring name Tyrus for the first time. He teamed extensively with Ethan Carter III, serving as his enforcer, and built a heel presence across TNA’s television programming.

In 2015, Tyrus won the Gauntlet for the Gold match, becoming the top contender for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. He remained with TNA until 2018, leaving after creative disagreements.

That same year, Murdoch began appearing on Fox News through his friendship with host Greg Gutfeld, which had started with a social media exchange on Twitter/X. He joined the network as a contributor in 2016.

NWA Championship and Retirement

On March 21, 2021, Tyrus made his National Wrestling Alliance debut at Back for the Attack. By August 6, 2021, he had captured the NWA World Television Championship, defeating The Pope.

On November 12, 2022, Tyrus defeated Trevor Murdoch and Mike Knox in a three-way match at Hard Times 3 to win the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. He held the title for 288 days.

He proposed his own retirement stipulation before his next major defense. On August 27, 2023, at the NWA 75th Anniversary Show, Tyrus lost the title to EC3 in a Bullrope match and retired from professional wrestling as agreed.

After the match, he addressed the crowd, thanked NWA owner Billy Corgan, and received send-off recognition from the locker room. Pro Wrestling Illustrated ranked him No. 58 in the PWI 500 in 2023.

Tyrus Career Stats and Records

Tyrus competed in WWE from 2006 to 2014 under the ring names G-Rilla and Brodus Clay. In TNA/Impact Wrestling from 2014 to 2018, he competed as Tyrus.

His NWA run from 2021 to 2023 produced two championship reigns: the NWA World Television Championship won August 6, 2021, and the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship won November 12, 2022, held for 288 days. He retired from in-ring competition on August 27, 2023.

Tyrus Awards and Championships

His championship titles include the NWA World Television Championship (2021) and the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship (2022-2023). Pro Wrestling Illustrated ranked him in the PWI 500 in 2012, 2013, and 2023.

His 2022 memoir Just Tyrus earned New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller status. His second book, Nuff Said, published in 2023, also reached the New York Times bestseller list.

Tyrus Wife

Tyrus married Ingrid Rinck Herbert on January 7, 2024, after more than a decade together. They had been calling each other husband and wife for years before formalizing the marriage.

Tyrus proposed in April 2020 with an emerald and diamond ring, writing on social media that Ingrid was “my everything.”

Ingrid Rinck, born April 24, 1981, is a fitness entrepreneur and founder of Sensible Meals, a meal-prep company she launched in 2014.

She also created The Rinck Routine, a holistic wellness and fitness brand. The couple met in the early 2010s and kept their relationship private for years.

The family lived in Mandeville, Louisiana, before relocating to a farm in New Jersey in 2024.

Tyrus Children

Tyrus and Ingrid share a daughter, Georgie Rose Murdoch, born on May 7, 2014. Ingrid also brought two sons, Rhett and Rock, into their blended family from a previous relationship.

Tyrus has additional children from a previous relationship of his own, though he has kept details about those children private.

The blended family has embraced farm life together since their New Jersey move in 2024.

Tyrus Net Worth

Tyrus’s estimated net worth is $2.5 million as of 2026. His income comes from multiple streams built across professional wrestling, television, publishing, and media appearances.

His regular role on Gutfeld! on Fox News, alongside contributions to Outnumbered, The Five, Fox and Friends, and America’s Newsroom, provides consistent income from the television side. His hosting role on Maintaining with Tyrus for OutKick, which launched in February 2024, adds to that.

Book royalties from Just Tyrus and Nuff Said provide ongoing earnings since both titles became New York Times bestsellers.

Acting credits in films including No One Lives (2012) and appearances in television series like Preacher and GLOW round out his entertainment income.

Tyrus Social Media

Tyrus is active across several major platforms. On Instagram, he posts under @tyrussmash, sharing commentary, family moments, and Fox News content.

On X (formerly Twitter), he posts as @PlanetTyrus, where his social media connection with Greg Gutfeld initially led to his Fox News career.

The Bottom Line

Tyrus won the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship on November 12, 2022, holding the title for 288 days before retiring from professional wrestling at the NWA 75 event in August 2023. His 2022 memoir Just Tyrus became a New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller.

Born in Boston to teenage parents and raised partly in foster care, Tyrus grew into a 6-foot-7 presence in both wrestling arenas and cable news studios. His Irish-American background, biracial identity, and difficult childhood form the core of both his memoirs.

As of 2026, Tyrus continues as a regular Fox News contributor on Gutfeld! While hosting Maintaining with Tyrus on OutKick.

His father became the new crown prince following the death of Crown Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz in June of 2012.By 2015, bin Salman became the minister of defense. In May of 2017, bin Salman began a purge within the Saudi government and business world, warning that corruption would be detected and weeded out, even at the highest levels. Some of the individuals who were arrested included billionaire and Saudi prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, head of the Saudi Arabian National Guard Mutaib bin Abdullah, and the Minister of Economy and Planning Abdel Fakeih. Many of those arrested were subjected to what would be called the “night of beating” in which many were beaten and tied to walls as a torture tactic. Many international observers have criticized the harsh tactics, though some have described them as a reform tactic planned by bin Salman in an effort to bring the royal family and their connections under the rule of law in order to reduce corruption. In general, bin Salman has been described as a nationalistic leader with a conservative attitude towards politics while maintaining a more liberal stance towards economic and social issues. He announced a strategic vision plan called Vision 2030 which aims to reform Saudi Arabia’s economy towards one that is more diversified and privatized. Bin Salman wants to move away from complete reliance on oil as the major driver of the economy and wishes to attract investment in sectors like biotechnology, renewable energy, and robotics and advanced manufacturing. One of the primary ways he has done this is through the creation of Neom, a $500 billion economic zone that covers an area of 26,000 square kilometers along the coast of the Red Sea.While focusing on diversification, bin Salman has also announced he does plan to restore and retain Saudi Arabia’s dominance in the global oil markets. He has also spearheaded the high-speed railway line that connects Mecca and Medina, which began its commercial operations in October of 2018. Bin Salman also announced a plan to build Saudi Arabia’s first nuclear reactor in November of 2018 with the goal of building 16 nuclear facilities in the next 20 years.Domestically, bin Salman has focused on liberalizing parts of Saudi Arabian society. He announced plans in April of 2017 to construct the world’s largest cultural, sports, and entertainment cities in Al Qiddiya. He also opened the first public cinema in the country in 2018 after a ban of 35 years. He has introduced various economic reforms and has announced a move away from the ultra-conservative Saudi Arabian state to one that is more moderate and tolerant of all religions of the world. At the same time, many human rights abuses, particularly regarding the treatment of women, have been reported in Saudi Arabia.ControversiesIn November 2017 Mohammed rounded up hundreds of extremely wealthy and powerful men at the Ritz Carlton in Riyadh. Many of the detainees were princes and/or direct relatives of Mohammed. One of the detainees was bin Salman’s cousin, famed billionaire investor Prince Al-Waleed. The detainees, who were reportedly abused over their three month captivity, were not released until they reportedly handed over large portions of their personal wealth. They relinquished land, cash and business stakes. Prince Al-Waleed allegedly handed over $6 billion worth of assets to his cousin. Saudi authorities would later claim that they had recovered $107 billion in assets. In October 2018, journalist Jamal Khashoggi was murdered in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, Turkey by a 15-man hit squad flown in by private jet from Riyadh. Both incidents are generally believed to have been ordered by Mohammed bin Salman personally.Personal LifeIn April of 2008, bin Salman married his first cousin, Sara bint Mashour, the daughter of his uncle, Mashour bin Abdulaziz. The couple has had five children together.Bin Salman enjoys purchasing expensive homes, yachts, and pieces of art. In December of 2017, he purchased “Salvator Mundi” by Leonardo da Vinci for over $450 million, setting a new record in art sales. However, the sale has been disputed by multiple sources, though the current location of the painting is unknown.Bin Salman travels extensively and has represented Saudi Arabian interests to many key political figures, celebrities, and business leaders.
