According to Broward County Sheriff’s the collision happened around 1:01 p.m. on September 20,2020, in the 11800 block of Griffin Road.
The wreck involved two vehicles, but it is still unclear which vehicle the Whites were in. According to deputies from the scene, one car had rolled over and the other was on lit. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue managed to put out the fire in the vehicle.
BSO Air Rescue airlifted two of the three victims. The third victim of the wreck, who was identified as James White’s father, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Whatever caused the fatal crash is still under investigation and BSO said it would release more information as it became available.
The New England Patriots running back was declared inactive for September 20,2020 road game against the Seattle Seahawks due to personal reasons, according to the team. White left South Florida to pursue college football at the University of Wisconsin from 2010-2013. He was later drafted by the New England Patriots in 2014.
