Tyrone Giordano (born 1976) is a Deaf American actor who has appeared in a number of films. He is a graduate of Montgomery Blair High School and Gallaudet University, and he started acting in Washington, DC in 1999 after graduating from both institutions. When he earned his first professional part as a member of the Chorus in the Arena Stage production of The Miracle Worker, he was a member of a small company of Deaf and hearing performers. Giordano graduated from Gallaudet University with a BA in English in 1999, and by September 2001, he had landed the role of the title character in Big River, a highly praised drama that had its origins at Deaf West Theatre in Los Angeles. Big River was a smash success at Deaf West Theatre, and it was revived for a second run at the Taper Forum in Hollywood. Big River resumed its voyage, returning to Broadway in the summer of 2003 at the American Airlines Theatre, where it re-united with several of its original cast members from the previous two years. Aside from completing shooting on The Family Stone, in which he portrays the homosexual deaf brother of lead actor Dermot Mulroney, Giordano stayed with Big River for the most of the show’s year-long national tour (June 2004-June 2005) and its run in Japan. He also appears in the 2005 film A Lot Like Love, in which he portrays the deaf brother of Ashton Kutcher’s character, and in the 2008 film Untraceable, in which he co-stars with Diane Lane. Recently, he appeared onstage as Pippin at the Mark Taper Forum and in the film The Next Three Days, in which he co-starred with Russell Crowe.
