Death and aftermath of Skaggs:
Unfortunately, he was found unconscious in his hotel room on July 1, 2019 in his hotel room in Southlake, Texas. His death was ruled a fentanyl overdose. According to investigative reports, they discovered multiple pills in Skaggs’ hotel room, including a 30mg oxycodone pill, additional 5mg oxycodone pills, various anti-inflammatories, and white powder on the floor.
Following the autopsy result, her family hired Texas attorney Rusty Hardin to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death. After three years, on February 8, 2022, the trial began in which Skagg’s teammates Matt, Mike and Bedrosian testified against Kay providing oxycodone pills. In addition, his teammate Harvey added that Eric had provided Skaggs with Percocet pills on several occasions.
Kay was found guilty of two counts in connection with Skaggs’ death on February 17: distribution of controlled narcotics resulting in death and conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute controlled substances. Her sentence is set for verdict on June 28, 2022 and she could face a minimum of 20 years in federal prison.
