He is a seven-time MLB All-Star (1998, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2006, 2007, and 2009) and a two-time National League Rolaids Relief Man of the Year. He led the NL in saves in 1998 and 2006. The San Diego Padres retired his number –51 –, and he was inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame. He became the first pitcher in pro baseball to hit 500 and 600 saves.
