Torrance Heather “Torry” Castellano (born January 8, 1979 in San Francisco, California) is a former Donnas drummer who announced her retirement in July 2010. Laura San Giacomo, the actress, is her cousin. She relocated to Palo Alto, California, when she was young, where she met her bandmates. Allison Robertson invited her to join the band, and she accepted despite having no prior experience. Every day, the band practised in her garage. Castellano suffered tendinitis before the publication of The Donnas’ album Gold Medal. She underwent surgery for it in October 2003.
She had to take drum lessons to re-learn how to handle drum sticks properly throughout her recuperation. She recorded with her healing wrists for Gold Medal, although she could only play for brief periods of time. Following a performance on December 27, 2008 at the House Of Blues in Anaheim, CA, Castellano was forced to withdraw from The Donnas’ tour due to a shoulder issue. The Demonics’ Amy Cesari provided information about upcoming tour dates. On July 9, 2010, Castellano stated on the Donnas’ website that she would have to stop drumming and performing due to a shoulder injury. Castellano continued to support the band by attending events and promoting the band’s final CD, Greatest Hits Volume 16, which she recorded with them. She went to Santa Monica College before transferring to Stanford University, where she is a political science major in the Class of 2013. Torry graduated with honours from Stanford and will begin law school at Harvard in the fall of 2013.
