Tonya Harding’s ex-husband Jeff Gillooly was the mastermind behind the 1994 attack on Nancy Kerrigan at Cobo Arena in Detroit.
Gillooly was sentenced to prison for his role in the attack, which occurred after a U.S. National Championships practice session on Jan. 6, 1994. Harding and Kerrigan were both preparing to compete for a chance to represent the U.S. at the Olympic games in Norway.
Gillooly, who married Harding in 1990 when she was 19, was charged with planning and bankrolling the attack, and three of his friends confessed to being involved.
Gillooly was sentenced in Portland, Ore., to two years in prison, receiving the harshest penalty of the five defendants in the attack.
