Former Liberal Party national president Tony Staley had five children; Richard, Samuel, Alexandra, Jonathan and Lucinda. However, there is insufficient information about the children of the late Australian politician and businessman who died on 3 May 2023 at age 83.
In a statement to the financial review, Sam Stanley spoke very fondly of his late father saying:
Anthony Alan (Tony) Staley was born in Horsham, Victoria in 1939 to Alma (née Grant) and Alan Staley. He attended Scotch College and Melbourne University for his education.
From 1970 to 1980, he represented the Victorian seat of Chisholm and served in the Fraser government as Minister for the Capital Territory (1976-1977) and Minister for Posts and Telecommunications (1977-1980). From 1993 to 1999, he was the Liberal Party’s national president.
Mr Staley went on to have a successful business and public life after leaving politics, serving on the boards of Mitsubishi Motors, Alexander Stenhouse, Ogilvie and Mather, and the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia, among others.
