Tony Hudgell Parents: Jody Simpson, 24, and Anthony Smith, 47, were sentenced to ten years in prison in February 2018.

Toddler Tony Hudgell’s parents, Jody Simpson and Anthony Smith, got jailed in February of 2018 after committing unspeakable crimes against their child.

Sadly, the laws surrounding children and toddlers have yet to take strict enforcement as the police denied arresting the couple even after seeing the severity of their criminalities.

The people got heartbroken after the story made headlines, thinking how could someone commit such acts to their flesh and blood.

Fortunately, it reached the ears of the right people who advocated for justice.

After five years, they got betrayed by their country after letting the convicts roam free in time for the Prime Minister’s reception on Tuesday.

Indeed, it is not the first time something like this has happened on British soil, as mother Tracey Connelly got convicted in 2009 for allowing her son’s death from 50 injuries.

Did Tony Hudgell Parents Get Jailed?

Tony Hudgell’s parents, Jody Simpson and Anthoney Smith, got detained after they brutally abused the one-month-old child. The seven-year-old reported torn ligaments, broken fingers, and sepsis as the doctor believed he was on the verge of dying.

Indeed, he was only 41 days old but had seen worse from humanity than people of the first line of wars.

The injuries got so bad that his legs were not savable, and he had to get them amputated.

Initially, the police refused to take action and only lifted their foot after activist Paula Hudgell and Tory MP Tom Tugendhat campaigned for justice.

The parents were not ready to face the consequences and even denied causing or allowing severe bodily damage but were convicted collectively after less than an hour of jury contemplation.

Maidstone Crown Court agreed to their terms and sentenced them to a decade behind bars. The event sparked controversy for the lack of rules for the wellbeing of minors, as they pushed for Tony’s Law, a provision that would provide a lifesentense or 14 years in lockup for such offenses.

In 2020, Tony received the Pride of Britain award for showing immense bravery even in the face of death.

Why Were Jody Simpson And Anthony Smith Released Ahead Of Their Sentence?

Married couple Jody Simpson, aged 24, and her husband Anthony Smith, aged 47, got punished behind bars for ten years but found themselves seeing freedom before its completion. The reason for their premature discharge remains unspecified, but we estimate it to be good behavior.

According to Metro, they will get released after serving half the time. His adoptive mother, 54-year-old Paula Hudgell, has unleashed her fury upon the law and enforcement, calling it an encroachment on his human right to feel safe.

The lady became a national icon after taking in the mutilated child, Tony Hudgell, and raising funds for him and numerous other causes.

To her shock, the victim liaison officer gave her the disheartening news of their early departure and confirmed they would get out by the end of the month.

She felt sickened as they did not have to apply for parole or even show a bit of remorse for their heinous actions but smugly walked free. It was a blow to a stomach, cementing the fact that babies and child perpetrators get taken lightly by the law.

Indeed, the news reached Tony’s ears as he expressed his anger, saying he would become a policeman to get justice for himself.
