Tom Joyce Net Worth, Income, Salary, Earnings, Biography

Tom Joyce (born 1956) is a Santa Fe, New Mexico-based artist, blacksmith, and designer. He has been creating sculpture, architectural ironwork, and public art for projects all around the United States since 1977. By combining inherited histories indicated by the precise material he utilises, Joyce infuses many of these works with significance. He encourages people to participate in the creating process by giving iron artefacts obtained from the landscape or that have special meaning to their owners in both public and private commissions. Joyce re-examines the social, political, economic, and historical implications of using iron in his work, from the “Rio Grande Gates,” forged from iron refuse retrieved from a quarter mile stretch of the Rio Grande for the Albuquerque Museum of Art, to iron sculptures forged from massive industrial scrap. He has been sharing his creative concepts and working expertise with students for more than 30 years through high school and college internships, official apprenticeships, and free workshops for New Mexico youngsters. Joyce has given talks in Ireland, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Italy, Finland, South Africa, Canada, and the United States. More than 25 public institutions have permanent collections of his art. Since 1981, he has participated in 148 solo and group exhibitions, including those at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York, the Smithsonian Institution’s Renwick Gallery, the Minneapolis Institute of Art, the National Building Museum in Washington, DC, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Houston Museum of Contemporary Craft, the Boston Museum of Fine Art, the New Mexico Museum of Art, the Albuquerque Museum of Art, the Luce Foundation Center for American Art, the Mint Museum of Art in Charlotte, North
