Tom Curry Biography
Curry was included in Jones’ 36-person team for the 2022 Six Nations Championship on January 18, 2022. Curry, England’s youngest captain since 1988, was selected to lead the team as an openside flanker in the opening game at Murrayfield. England suffered a 17–20 defeat. Additionally, he started in England’s victory over Italy and Wales that followed.
He left the game against Wales with a concussion at halftime, but he was cleared to resume play and was given the go-ahead to start against Ireland. Curry’s hamstring injury limited him to just 14 minutes against Ireland before it forced him to miss the tournament’s decisive match against France.
Curry was chosen for the 37-member British & Irish Lions team that will go to South Africa in the summer of 2021. In the first of two games on the trip against the Cell C Sharks, he made his Lions debut. Curry made his only try of the tour three days later when he came off the bench in the second game against the Sharks.
His final game before the test series was the Lions’ opening-day defeat to South Africa ‘A’. Curry played the position of openside flanker in each of the three tests against South Africa, which South Africa ultimately won 2-1.
