Tim Kasher Net Worth, Income, Salary, Earnings, Biography

In addition to being the frontman of indie rock bands Cursive and The Good Life (both of which are signed to Omaha-based record company Saddle Creek Records), Timothy J. Kasher (born August 19, 1974) is a musician from Omaha, Nebraska, and the frontman of the indie rock band Cursive. Kasher also played in a band named Slowdown Virginia before joining those two groups. He also had a cameo performance with the Omaha band Commander Venus and The March Hares, which lasted just a few minutes.

Kasher has a strong friendship with Bright Eyes’ Conor Oberst, with whom he performs often. They grew up in the same town in Nebraska and attended the same Catholic high school, Creighton Preparatory. During the Bright Eyes song “Nothing Gets Crossed Out,” Oberst says, “Tim, I’ve heard your record, and it’s better than excellent,” alluding to Kasher’s band, The Good Life, and their 2002 album Black Out, which was released on Saddle Creek Records.

Furthermore, Oberst subsequently performed backing vocals on the Cursive song “Staying Alive,” which appeared on the band’s 2003 album The Ugly Organ. Cursive was briefly dissolved after the departure of guitarist Steve Pedersen, according to Kasher (who left to pursue a law degree at Duke University and now leads the Saddle Creek band Criteria). Kasher got married and relocated to Portland, Oregon with his family.

Following a tumultuous divorce in 2000, Kasher reformed Cursive and served as the inspiration for the Good Life album Black Out and Cursive’s Domestica, which were both released the following year. Originally, The Good Life was intended to be a one-person endeavour. Kasher wanted to try out various kinds of words and melodies to see what he came up with. Better Looking Records published his first album, Novena on a Nocturn.
