Tim Curry Siblings: Meet Judy Curry

Remembering Judy Curry: The Talented Sister of Tim Curry

In the shadow of a legendary actor lies the story of Judy Curry, the sister of the prolific and beloved Tim Curry. While Tim Curry has enthralled audiences for decades with his remarkable performances on the silver screen, Judy Curry’s life was marked by her unique talents and experiences. Let’s delve into the life of Judy Curry and explore her remarkable journey.

Born in Egypt, the exact year of Judy Curry’s birth remains unknown. She was the elder sister of the famed actor, Tim Curry, who was born on April 19, 1946, in Grappenhall, Cheshire. Their parents, James Curry, a Methodist Naval Chaplain, and his wife Maura ‘Patricia’ Curry, a school secretary, first met in Malta during World War II before settling in Egypt, where Judy was born. The family then moved to South Africa, where Tim Curry came into the world. Their nomadic lifestyle led them to Hong Kong when Tim was just six months old.

Life was a constant journey for Judy Curry and her brother until tragedy struck when their father suffered a stroke. The family eventually settled in Plymouth, England, with Tim’s maternal grandfather living nearby. Interestingly, it is said that Tim borrowed his grandfather’s distinct West Country accent for his role as Long John Silver in “Muppet Treasure Island,” showcasing his ability to immerse himself in his characters.

While Tim Curry captivated audiences with his acting prowess, Judy Curry made her mark in the world as a concert pianist. Her musical talent shone through as she dedicated herself to mastering the piano and delivering captivating performances. While her brother brought laughter and joy to his fans, Judy enchanted audiences with her melodic compositions.

Unfortunately, tragedy struck the Curry family, as James Curry passed away in 1958 when Tim was just 12 years old. His cause of death was pneumonia and complications from a stroke. Judy and Tim faced the heartbreaking loss of their father at a young age, leaving a void in their lives.

Years later, in June 1999, their mother, Patricia Curry, succumbed to cancer after battling the illness for two years. The family was devastated by this loss, as they bid farewell to a beloved matriarch. Sadly, Judy Curry’s life was also cut short by a brain tumor in 2001, just two years after her mother’s passing. Her untimely departure left behind memories of her extraordinary musical talent and a void that could never be filled.

While Tim Curry’s name has become synonymous with entertainment and unforgettable performances, it is important to remember Judy Curry, the talented sister who shared her artistic gifts with the world. Her contributions as a concert pianist showcased the depth of talent within the Curry family, and her memory lives on alongside her brother’s remarkable career. May Judy Curry’s spirit continue to inspire those who appreciate the beauty of music and the enduring power of family.
