No matter how much we think we know about the world, there are countless things we don’t know about. There are many unthinkable things that have never even crossed our minds. Regardless of how much you travel the globe, you may never see all of the wonders that lie beneath this planet earth. You find it difficult to believe the authenticity or the possibility of some facts you come across in life. As some people say; Seeing is believing. Just like me, I think you never imagined the existence of such creatures! Have a look…
LESULA
The Lesula ( Cercopithecus lomamiensis ) is a species of Old World monkey in the Guenon family, found in the Lomami Basin of the Congo. Although known to locals, it was unknown to the international scientific community until it was discovered in 2007 and confirmed in a 2012 publication. PURPLE FROG
This rare species of frog, commonly found in India, is much more bloated and rounded than its other frog peers. The frog also has a small head and an unusual snout. It is so rare because it is said to only spend two weeks above the ground each year.
SEA PIG
The Sea Pig is closely related to a Sea Cucumber (Whoever named sea creatures must have a sense of humor as they never look like what they are named). They have enlarged tube feet and live on the deep seabed. Luckily, you’ll never come across one yourself.
AFRICAN CAPE BUFFALO
The African buffalo or Cape buffalo (Synceruscaffer) is a large African bovine. It is not closely related to the slightly larger wild Asiatic water buffalo and its lineage remains unclear. The African buffalo is not an ancestor of domestic cattle and is only distantly related to other larger cattle. Due to its unpredictable nature, which makes it very dangerous for humans, the African buffalo, unlike its Asian counterpart, the water buffalo, has never been domesticated.
THORNY DRAGON
The Thorny Dragon is an Australian lizard that lives mainly in the desert and, as the name suggests, looks like a small dragon. They are also known as mountain devils, thorn lizards or molochs. This lizard is covered in sharp spikes and uses them to deter predators. They can live up to 20 years, longer than most lizards.
THE LAMPREY
That’s terrible… Lampreys are somewhere betweenan eel, a leech and a parasite. As you can imagine, they use those creepy fangs to attach themselves to fish and suck their blood. They have been doing this for around 360 million years.
MOLE WITH STAR
Native to North America, these strange moles have extraterrestrial tentacles on their noses. These animals, which spend most of their lives underground, are a rare sight for humans and are mostly blind. Their tentacles give them an extremely keen sense of touch and they can also detect the tiny electrical fields emitted by their prey.
AYE AYE
The aye-aye is a nocturnal lemur native only to Madagascar. The creature has rodent-like teeth, which it uses to chew small holes in trees and then pull out maggots with its narrow fingers.
GOBLIN SHARK
The terrifying goblin shark measures between 8. Dubbed a “living fossil,” these terrifying animals are the sole surviving member of a 125-million-year-old family.
REDLIPPED BATFISH
Batfish are found in the waters of the Galapagos Islands but cannot swim. Instead, the fish have learned to walk across the sea floor on their fins.
GOLIATH BIRD EATING SPIDER
The goliath birdeater (Theraphosa blondi) is a spider of the tarantula family. It is often considered the largest spider in the world. It is the second largest by leg length, after the giant huntsman spider.
RED-BEARDED TITI (Caqueta Titi)
Also known as the red-bearded titi or the bushy-bearded titi, the caquetá titi (Callicebus caquetensis) is a species of titi monkey endemic to Colombia. Taxonomically, it is a member of the Callicebus cupreus group, which follows Shunsuke Kobayashi’s Callicebus group. It was first described by Thomas Defler, Marta Bueno, and Javier Garcia in 2010.
SCARY WOLF
This is too scary to describe or comment on! Or don’t you think so? Who the heck kept it on a red carpet?
BABOON
Baboons are not normally classified as a rare species, but this species is very different from the usual species found in the game reserves. It’s incredibly scary!
AFRICAN WAY OF PRAYING MANTIS
I call these GIANT PRAYING MANTIS. You’re actually weird. Really looks like some kind of alien creatures. However, they do exist, right here in Africa.
Frogfish
This is really a strange kind of fish. It really doesn’t look like a fish to me. According to research, it exists not only in Africa but also on other continents of the world.
NEWLY DISCOVERED LEGLESS AMPHIBIANS
Not that much is known about these creepy creatures. Really disgusting…can’t continue the look!
The Lowland Streaked Tenrec
The lowland grazed tenrec (Hemicentetessemispinosus), is a small tenrec found in Madagascar. It’s cute, but you have to watch out for this creature in Madagascar, Africa. Covered in tiny little barbs, it is reportedly the only mammal known to use stridulation to produce sound. Usually only insects and snakes make such sounds.
