AMC’s horror drama series The Walking Dead tells the story of a post-apocalyptic Atlanta, Georgia, after a global zombie apocalypse begins. It centers on zombies, also known as walkers, as they target humans and other creatures to eat them, as well as the series’ protagonist, Sheriff’s Deputy Rick Grimes, who leads a group of survivors as they attempt to defend themselves and protect themselves from attack. by walkers and rebuild civilization.
The tale also explores the survivors and the various towns they flee to escape zombie attacks. Rick has fought many city villains alongside his group. After All Out War and the defeat of Negan, under an alliance of communities led by Grimes, the series focuses on communities united, facing obstacles and dangers, both inside and inside their alliance, with the threat of new antagonists.
TWD has spawned a franchise and spin-offs, including a live-action aftershow, Talking Dead Chris Hardwick, which premiered on the network in 2011, features the final episode with fans, cast and producers from the Serie. Others include webisodes such as Torn (2011), Cold Room (2012), The Oath (2013), and Red Machete (2017) as well as a TWD companion series, Fear the Walking Dead. The series premiered in 2013 and is currently in its fifth season.
Walking Dead was a critical success and it is currently in its ninth season. The plot is well paced and executed with precision by a brilliant cast which is a fun and intriguing watch. However, with the show’s declining ratings, many are wondering if there will be a tenth season.
The Walking Dead Season 10
Season 9 of The Walking Dead was renewed by the ABC network for 16 episodes which aired in January 2018 and premiered on October 7, 2018. The opening of the film paid tribute to one of its stars, Scott Wilson, who plays the role of Hershel Greene. He died a few days before the premiere of leukemia. Season 10 has yet to be officially confirmed and with the current season getting the lowest rating since season 2, it leaves the future of the series in the hands of uncertainty.
Even so, season four to eight showrunner Scott Gimple is still very optimistic about the series. While many believe The Walking Dead’s best days are behind him, he estimated it could last 20 years, or even America’s longest-running sitcom, The Simpsons as he told NY Daily News in 2017. If his statements are anything to go by, then the show would not only return for a new season, but would be on our TV screens for a long time. Writer and executive producer, Angela Kang has taken over the role of showrunner and Gimple is now the content manager.
Although the key players seem to be on their way, Norman Reedus (Daryl) and Melissa McBride (Carol), who have signed for another three years, could give further clues to a possible season 10. Also, in 2014, the executive producer David Alpert said the original comics gave them enough ideas for Rick Grimes to last the next seven years. Additionally, the network is in the franchise and plans to continue the show for at least a decade, as AMC President and CEO Josh Sapan announced in September 2018. The plans include new movies and TV series. based on the original comic book series.
Additionally, Kang said in November 2018 that work on Season 10 was already underway. The season hopes to see the return of Maggie (Lauren Cohan).
Ground
The plot will depend a lot on how The Walking’s off-season nine finale ends. The Whisperers, who were added in the second half of the ninth season, would likely feature in the tenth season. Led by Alpha, the group is a group of roving killers who show no mercy in killing their prey. To stay alive, they dress in masks and costumes of the dead in order to blend in with the walkers. The community is fighting against this group which would undoubtedly play a huge role not only in the second half of Season 9, but potentially in Season 10.
Release Date, First
Following the trend of previous seasons, the tenth season will likely debut in October 2019 with at least 16 episodes, along with mid-season breaks that were introduced to the series in season 2 when the number of episodes increased from 6 to 13.
The hiatus often begins at the end of November or the beginning of December, which returns in the first months of the following year and season 10, if applicable, could follow the same schedule. Also, the official announcement of the season is expected to be imminent as the return of its predecessor was announced on January 13, 2018.
Who are the cast of Walking Dead Season 10?
A good story and incredible producers without equally outstanding actors to bring it to life would undoubtedly be grim. Nevertheless, The Walking Dead boasts of a good original story as well as amazing cast members.
Due to the expansive nature of Robert Kirkmancomics and the many actors that are part of its mythology, TWD’s cast is quite large. The past five seasons have had about 18 playoff regulars. For season 10, when that happens, it should be no different, although the fate of many of the main characters in anticipation of the 10th season remains unknown as season 9 continues.
Despite that, here are the few major cast members and their various characters.
Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes
Rick Grimes played by Andrew Lincoln has been a mainstay of The Walking Dead. He was a former deputy sheriff, but after waking up in a world ravaged by zombies, he fought to save himself and other survivors, whom he eventually began to lead. After much speculation about his exit from the series, it was finally confirmed in the fifth episode, What Comes After of Season 9 that the current run would be his last.
Although his character won’t be returning for a 10th season, Lincoln is reportedly back to direct an episode of the series. Additionally, being an Endless Being, Grimes and Lincoln will appear in a series of films that should explore events related to his character in the future, according to the AMC and TWD creative team. The first film is expected to begin production in 2019.
Lauren Cohan as Maggie Green
Another character to be reckoned with is Lauren Cohan who joined the show as MaggieGreen, the eldest daughter of the Greene family led by Hershel Greene (Scott Wilson) in the second season. She became the leader of the Hilltop Colony and often has issues with Grimes but, much like Rick, would also leave the show. She only appeared in the first five episodes of the ninth season due to other commitments.
However, unlike Grimes, his character won’t be killed off, but is locked down for now and likely to return in the future.
Danai Gurira as Michonne
Beginning in Season 3, Black Panther Michonne’s Dania Gurira, a fierce katana-wielding woman, eventually joined Rick’s group. On top of that, she also became Rick’s romantic partner and a mother figure to his son, Carl (Chandler Riggs), who died later in season 8.
Alanna Masterson as Tara Chamberler
After the Governor (David Morrissey) was killed in Season 4, Tara Chambler (Alanna Masterson), a former police academy student and former bandmate, joined Rick’s band and played the role of main runner of season 5.
Josh McDermitt as Eugene Porter
Josh McDermitt’s character Eugene Porter is loyal to Negan and The Saviors in exchange for an easier life at Sanctuary, after his partners are murdered. He claims to know a cure for the walker virus, and although cowardly and ineffectual, he is very clever against zombies.
Christian Serratos as Rosita Espinosa
Serratos was initially a recurring character in Season 4, then survived on the show. She is a tough, focused, and very capable survivor, as well as the girlfriend of Abraham (Michael Cudlitz).
Seth Gilliam as Gabriel Stokes
Father Gabriel Stokes joined the series in season 5 as the unsuspecting saving grace of Rick Grimes and the bands escaping from Terminus. He lacks the experience of walkers and was probably the least likely of the party members to survive the apocalypse. Yet he braved the odds, and though he struggled with his faith in the new world, he became both a spiritual leader and a valuable warrior.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan
Speak tyranny, speak Negan. Jeffrey Dean Morgan portrays the evil psychopathic batter, skull, and leader of the Saviors. He’s also a great actor in Brad Peyton’s adaptation of the Rampage video game franchise as Agent Harvey Russell alongside Dwayne Johnson.
Khary Payton as Ezekiel
Khary Payton has become synonymous with comic book characters. Known as the DC Comics character Cyborg in several movies, cartoons, and video games, he is also beloved for his standout voice acting roles.
Payton plays Ezekiel, The Walking Dead King’s own. He leads a community known as the Kingdom and was a former zookeeper who owns a pet tiger called Shiva. She sacrificed herself to save her master from the zombies during a confrontation in A Guy season 8 episode.
Samantha Morton as Alpha
The Last Panthers star, Samantha Morton was cast as Alpha in the first half of Season 9 as the show’s main villain. She leads the group of killers, the Whisperers who disguise themselves as walkers to escape their attacks.
While some key characters left the show in season 9, others like Sonequa Martin-Green and the late Sasha Williams were brought back while many others were promoted to series regular. They include Alden (Callan McAuliffe) and Siddiq (Avi Nash).
