The Untold Truth Of Tony Romo’s Wife – Candice Crawford

Candice Crawford is a popular sports anchor and former beauty queen, who is also famous for being the wife of Tony Romo, the star of the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL).

Early life and family

Candice Loren Crawford was born on 16 December 1986, in Lubbock, Texas USA, so she holds American nationality and her zodiac sign is Sagittarius. Candice is the youngest daughter of Dana Crawford, a teacher, and Chris Crawford, a dermatologist, natives of Dallas, Texas. Candice has an older brother, Chace Crawford, who is a popular actor, known for appearing in such TV series as “Gossip Girl” and “Blood & Oil”. When Candice turned three years old, her parents moved to Bloomington, Minnesota, as her father had to work there as a medical student for four years.

Later they moved back to their parents’ hometown of Dallas, so Candice and Chace lived there until their matriculation.

From her early years, Candice was feeling comfortable to be in front of the camera. She enjoyed singing, dancing and entertaining her relatives, friends and guests at their family house, and used any chance to perform whenever she had an audience. When Candice was around 14 years old, she participated in her first pageant – Miss Teen USA. She didn’t win the competition, but really enjoyed the process of competing there, and used that experience in her future modelling career.

Brother, actor Chace Crawford

Candice’s older brother, Christopher Chace Crawford, was born on 18 July 1985, in Lubbock.

Before starting his acting career, Chace attended Pepperdine University, majoring in broadcast journalism and marketing; however, he dropped out of college to start working as a car valet, simply to raise some money for living. In 2006 Chace landed his first role in “The Covenant”, a supernatural thriller. In 2008 he could be seen as Hayden Price in “Loaded”, and as Joseph Young in “The Haunting of Molly Hartley”. Later he worked as a voice actor for such series as “Seth MacFarlane’s Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy”, “Robot Chicken” and “Family Guy”. From 2007 to 2012 Chace portrayed the character of Nate Archibald in “Gossip Girl”, playing opposite Blake Lively, Penn Badgley and Leighton Meester.

Chace is also known for such roles as Marco in “What to Expect When You’re Expecting”, starring Cameron Diaz and Matthew Morrison; Billy LeFever in “Blood & Oil” and The Deep in “The Boys”. Chace won a Teen Choice Award four times, from 2008 to 2011, all for his work in “Gossip Girl”, in such categories as “Choice TV: Breakout Star Male” and “Choice TV Actor: Drama”. For his work in “Blood & Oil”, Chace was nominated for People’s Choice Award in the category “Favorite Actor in a New TV Series”.

Educational background

After matriculating from Trinity Christian Academy in Dallas in 2005, Candice enrolled at the University of Missouri-Columbia.

She graduated in 2009 with a BA in Broadcast Journalism. Candice admitted that her college experience of working in the field of journalism and broadcasting also helped her to improve her confidence and communication skills.

Career

Modelling career

Even though Candice started modelling in her teen years, it wasn’t the goal of her life, to participate in or to win any beauty pageants. She simply enjoyed being in front of an audience, and tried to take as much from that experience as she could. She signed up for the Miss Missouri 2007 competition, but was the runner-up.

She later shared that it was only due to her parents’ unconditional love and support that she entered the competition the next year again – she was very busy with studying, working as a personal trainer at the recreational center at the University of Missouri, and also having her sorority responsibilities, yet she was brave enough to sign up for Miss Missouri for the second time. Her father told her: ‘I think this is your year’, and Candice felt much more confident with her decision. Candice won the pageant, being crowned as Miss Missouri 2008, and also received a special achievement recognition for her successful performance in swimsuit category. So Candice got the chance to participate in the Miss USA competition of the same year.

However, Candice admitted in her interview to Columbia Tribune that her modelling career would soon be over: ‘I think this would be a good ending point for me. After this is over, I would like to focus again on my career’, Candice said, meaning her broadcasting career.

Focusing on journalism

Since her first college year, Candice started reporting for the local TV station KOMU, owned by the University of Missouri. She worked as an anchor and sports reporter, spending two summers working with the Dallas Cowboys football club, which compete in the NFL. Right before her graduation, she successfully completed her work as an on-air reporter for “The Blitz”, a special CBS segment about the Dallas Cowboys.

After graduating from her Alma Mater, Candice worked for the CW33 TV (KDAF), located in Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas, covering high school games, cheerleaders’ festivals and game day events; she conducted a lot of interviews with team members, managers, etc. Candice also hosted “Up All Night”, “The RC Project” and some other TV programs.

Candice also shared that she is ‘very open’ to any opportunities that may come to her life, including acting, as she was very happy for her brother’s successful acting career.
