Abby grew up with a lot of support from her parents, who encouraged her to pursue what she wanted to do in terms of her career. After completing her studies, she began working as a cosmetologist. During this time, she began gaining interest in starting a career as an Instagram model and influencer, creating an account in 2017. The site is known for starting the career of many online personalities, who used the popularity of the site to promote themselves through modeling photos and the like.
Abby consistently posted photos of herself wearing beachwear and swimwear, so eventually her followership grew significantly.
This in turn attracted the attention of several companies, who began contacting her for possible work or sponsorships. Aside from Knock Out Watches, she was also contacted by the company Fashion Nova, who started a modeling contract with her. Influencers sponsored by Fashion Nova often get free clothes, custom-fitted to their body measurements. They then post photos featuring these clothes, and gain a financial reward equal to the popularity of that post in terms of views, interactions, and the like.
Fashion Nova grew to fame by using this strategy, employing various popular Instagram models to fuel its market. They sell inexpensive retail clothing, often catered to club-goers or those with a similar lifestyle. Over the years, the brand’s fame has led it to gain high-profile celebrity sponsors.
However, recent issues with the company have slowed them down, especially when a report surfaced that the company was underpaying many of its factory workers. Eventually, Abby continued her career, even after the contract, modeling for skincare products and cosmetology products. She also began collaborating with other models, including Katie Bell and Daisy Keech.
Expanding Her Reach
Rao continued to expand her reach, gaining more fame and opportunities through other websites. She created an account on TikTok which is a very popular website for her age group, a short-form video app that allows users to record and share videos.
These videos often involve lip-syncing or music, with the most popular of people dancing to popular songs. Other trends and niches in TikTok also exist, but it has also become a hub for many both established and aspiring influencers. She’s consistently collaborated with other models, mostly with Daisy Keech whom she credits as being her closest friend since she moved to Los Angeles.
Abby also began promoting her work on Twitter, which is a popular site for promoting one’s work due to its easy to use features. She’s also appeared in a few YouTube videos, mostly as a part of the channel of RiceGum during their relationship together. However, she eventually stopped this collaboration as they separated.
Eventually, her best friend Keech approached her for another project in which she was asked to be one of the co-founders – this business endeavor would become The Clubhouse.
The Clubhouse
Daisy was originally from a TikTok house called Hype House. A TikTok house is where several popular influencers, both male and female, begin to live and work together actually in a house and collaborating to create social media content, often displayed on websites such as TikTok or YouTube. After disagreements with the Hype House, Daisy left and approached Rao to help create a new TikTok house. After successfully gaining the support of investors and other influencers, The Clubhouse was formation.
These two established names already pulled in a large interested audience, and they started a tour of the house, which is a large modern mansion house in Beverly Hills valued at $30 million.
Other influencers who joined them in this new project include Isaak Presley, Charly Jordan, Chase Keith, Leslie Hannah Belle, Kinsey, and Mariana. The project started just around the time of the coronavirus pandemic, which led many to stay in their homes. In response to this, the group decided to start living in the said Clubhouse, so that they could begin to create content together without any problems. While it is not known if they live in the clubhouse, the group has consistently released video content on YouTube, where it has been gaining attention.
Personal Life
Abby began dating YouTuber Bryan Quang Le – otherwise known as RiceGum – in 2019. He is known for his YouTube channel which popularized many diss tracks, some of which found fame in music charts. He is also known for his controversial content, often getting into feuds with other content creators. He also caused controversy in Hong Kong in which he disparaged the culture of the province, which many compared to Logan Paul’s controversial vlog on Japan. However, Abby and Bryan broke-up later in the year, Abby stating that she felt RiceGum was just too interested in other things, and didn’t reciprocate the same effort and love she put into the relationship. Since then she’s been single, and focused on her career, especially with the creation of The Clubhouse.
